Detroit Lions star Terrion Arnold was recently released from jail on a $1 million bond after being accused of kidnapping, armed robbery, and conspiracy charges last week. Chief Judge Christopher C. Sabella believes there is “probable cause” for the charges leveled against Arnold, but doesn’t believe the NFL player should remain behind bars until his trial begins. Arnold, a cornerback for the Michigan-based team, was arrested last week after prosecutors in Florida said the football star allegedly set up a robbery that left victims with “visible injuries from being battered, held at gunpoint, and pistol-whipped before their personal property was stolen and … ordered to leave.”

Christian Romo of the Detroit Free Press reported that Arnold was released from jail on a $1 million bond on Monday, June 29, 2026.

Prosecutors wanted the athlete to remain behind bars until his trial. He is facing charges of armed robbery, kidnapping, and conspiracy.

As mentioned above, Judge Sabella said there is “probable cause” for the charges against the Lions player; however, he said “the burden is higher than the probable cause” and “the state isn’t there at this point.”

According to the report, Arnold will be subject to home confinement, but he will be allowed to leave to attend practices and games.

Judge Sabella also denied the prosecution’s request that Arnold wear an ankle monitor, saying the athlete will have a “paparazzi monitor.”

“If he is late for practice, ESPN will let us know,” the judge said. “If he violates the conditions of his bond, he will be found.”

Terrion Arnold Hired A Prominent Attorney Who Has Worked With Notable Sports Figures In The Past

Prior to Monday’s meeting, Arnold hired Denver-based attorney Harvey Steinberg, according to NBC Sports. If Arnold is convicted of any of the above crimes, he could spend life in prison.

Steinberg, though, is one of the best, having worked with several high-profile NFL players in the past. Over the years, he’s been hired by Denver Broncos player Jonathan Cooper, who is facing domestic violence charges stemming from an alleged incident with his girlfriend.

Additionally, Steinberg has partnered with John Elway, Jack Elway, Kellen Winslow II, Jerry Jeudy, John Bowlen, Brandon Marshall, and Elvis Dumervil.

Steinberg detailed how he approaches his cases during a past interview, saying, “It’s not the client that’s on trial in my world; it’s the system. The system has to be held accountable. And if the system works, justice occurs. If it’s broken, that’s when there are problems.”

Although a judge has allowed Arnold to return to work while his case is ongoing, it’s still up to the NFL to decide whether to allow him to participate. NBC Sports reported that the NFL’s personal conduct policy allows a player to be placed on paid leave when he is “formally charged with a felony … or a crime of violence.”

It also states that players could be placed on paid leave “when an investigation leads the Commissioner to believe that a player may have violated this Policy by committing any of the conduct identified above, he may act where the circumstances and evidence warrant doing so.”

Even then, a league spokesperson said that the organization is still actively reviewing the case and a decision on Arnold’s status hasn’t been made.

Arnold Accused Of Terrifying Crimes

According to a previous report from The Blast, Arnold turned himself in to the Tampa Police Department last week after the aforementioned felony charges were filed against him.

Prosecutors claimed that Arnold set up three adult victims in their late teens on the night of February 4 to be kidnapped, robbed, and assaulted after believing they were part of a plot to steal over $200,000 worth of items from him.

Authorities said that Arnold wasn’t actively present at the time of the alleged crimes, but claimed the reported incident was being “streamed” to him at a different location. Investigators also said they located a “group chat with all defendants was created, where Arnold and [his alleged affiliate] reportedly gave directions to [others] during the assault.”

After last week’s arrest, a representative for Arnold spoke with the media, denying the claims against him.

“There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations,” Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management, said. “Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences.”
