Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s trip to the UK with their children has already hit a major roadblock over security.

According to a new report, the Duke of Sussex has been left “distraught” by the UK Government’s alleged move to deny his family police protection days before their first visit in four years.

Now, Prince Harry is said to be “reassessing” the trip and “looking at every option to try and get” Meghan Markle and their children to the UK “safely.”

‘Distraught’ Prince Harry Dealt Major Blow Days Before UK Trip

Sources shared with The Guardian that Harry is worried his kids will not get to meet King Charles after a surprise move by the UK Government to deny his request for police protection.

The Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, were planning their first family trip to Britain in four years to participate in events related to the Invictus Games in Birmingham.

While Harry was reportedly excited about his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, finally meeting their grandfather, the king, his hopes of getting them to the country “safely” have now seemingly been dashed due to security issues.

According to the news outlet, sources claim Harry was left feeling “distraught” by the decision and is determined to ensure his children are not harassed by paparazzi the minute they arrive in the country.

The Duke Is Now Desperately Searching For Other Options To Protect His Family

The Guardian’s source noted that Harry is exploring alternative options to make the trip happen, but fears it will be impossible without proper security arrangements.

“Their plans to see family, friends, and visit various charitable causes close to the duke’s heart have been pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour,” the insider noted.

They continued, “He’s looking at every option to try and get the family here safely and keep them safe when they’re on the ground. If he can find a way to do that, he will.”

“The hope is they can meet their grandfather, but there is no way that can happen if they are chased by paparazzi wherever they go from the moment they step off the plane,” the source added. “He won’t put his children through that.”

Harry’s latest security woes come after he lost a legal battle against the Home Office last year over automatic UK police protection.

At the time, the Duke of Sussex claimed it remained unsafe to bring his family to the country without the guaranteed security.

“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point,” Harry told the BBC at the time.

He also used the opportunity to call for reconciliation with his members of the royal family, in comments that took many by surprise.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. … There’s no point in continuing to fight people,” Harry said. “It would be nice to have that reconciliation part now. If they don’t want that, that’s entirely up to them.”

Experts on “The Royals Uncensored” show noted that the activities the duke and duchess will be attending were not important enough to warrant their physical presence in Britain, claiming that it was instead a “desperate” move to reestablish royal ties.

TalkTV presenter Mark Dolan called the news of their trip a “bombshell,” before saying that it “smacks of desperation” as it may be linked to the duo’s struggles finding their footing in Hollywood.

“I think what this move reveals is the total failure of the Sussex brand in the United States,” Dolan said, adding, “the money is drying up.”

Harry and Meghan’s plans to visit the UK are said to have been positively received by King Charles, with reports claiming the monarch is especially keen to finally meet his grandkids, Archie and Lilibet, again after four years.

However, not everyone is excited to see the Sussexes back in the UK, with sources claiming that future king, Prince William, feels “betrayed” by the move.

Speaking to GB News, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam said, “William reportedly feels deeply betrayed. The king is rumored to be more emollient.”

He added, “Much of this will be played out in public; the issue is one of trust, and the Sussexes simply cannot appreciate the need for privacy in what appears to be their desire to have closer relations with the family they so publicly betrayed.”
