The media personality revealed how blessed he feels to be around his family, feeling very healthy and alive because he chose to prioritize his health three years ago.
He added that the singular decision led to him experiencing a better relationship with his children and gradually fixing all the years of pain he had caused his loved ones due to his addiction.
McDermott reassured his fans, followers, and anyone dealing with addiction that the problem is absolutely solvable, as long as they choose to seek help and find a community of like minds. “Clean Dean” wore the brightest smile as he informed anyone going through sobriety or struggling with addiction of his love and support.

In 2023, the actor admitted that his struggles with alcohol and prescription drug addiction played a major role in the collapse of his 18-year marriage to estranged wife Spelling.
Speaking to The Daily Mail from a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles, McDermott confessed that he was to blame for the emotional pain he caused the actress despite the fact that she had always wanted the best for him.
He recalled that his ex-wife’s greatest wish was to see him healthy and happy, but he did exactly the opposite by causing her more heartbreak and pain. McDermott emphasized that admitting his role in the breakdown of their marriage was very important to him as a step towards accountability.
He added that his substance abuse became uncontrollable, destroying the life they had built together as he would have episodes of violent outbursts that left his then-wife and children in a state of fear towards the end of his marriage.
The confidence that consuming alcohol initially gave him slowly consumed him and eventually left him isolated. He soon found himself downing an entire bottle of tequila every night while also taking prescription painkillers, often alone, even as his family remained just a room away.
McDermott continued that he eventually reached a breaking point, realizing he no longer wanted to continue living with the constant anger, shouting, and destructive behavior.

McDermott proudly flaunted the one-year chip he got from treatment on his social media to celebrate being clean of alcohol and drugs for 365 days. As shared by Page Six, the actor got a lovely card from a certain someone who declared that he is the most amazing person ever.
He was filled with gratitude to everyone embarking on the journey with him for their support and to his rehab center for saving his life. McDermott urged anyone struggling with addiction to surrender and ask for help to unlock the beautiful life that awaits them once they set out towards recovery.
