The Prince of Wales was revealed to be a billionaire on Friday, June 26, following a statement from the Duchy of Cornwall. He became the 25th Duke of Cornwall after his father ascended the throne in 2022.
News of Prince William’s billionaire status follows speculations about his estranged brother, Prince Harry’s return to the UK amid financial issues.
Prince William Has A Net Worth Of £1.2 Billion
The Duchy of Cornwall confirmed Prince William has a net worth of £1.2 billion, a massive sum he amassed through investment property and a private income of £21.6 million in 2025-2026. His status makes him richer than the King, whose net worth is reportedly £640 million.
The Prince’s billionaire status became public after he released his tax bill for the first time since becoming the Duke of Cornwall. William, as heir to the throne, is entitled to the annual profits from the Duchy’s landed estate, which covers 51,800 hectares across 19 counties, per The Daily Mail.
The Prince reportedly uses the income obtained from the Duchy to fund charities alongside the private and official lives of his wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

On the other hand, royal biographer Tom Bower argued that Harry was returning to the UK to reconcile with his family. He believed the Duke of Sussex missed “his roots” and probably hoped “to worm his way back into the affections not only of his own family, but of the British people.”

More royal commentators questioned the Sussexes’ return to the UK, with Mark Dolan suggesting their comeback was tied to their failed commercial and media ventures in the United States. The Blast shared that he claimed their visit reeked of “desperation,” noting the duo’s “money is drying up.”
According to Dolan, Harry’s speaking engagements were no longer successful, as he now earned $50K per speech when he initially pulled in $1 million. He added that Meghan’s As Ever brand wasn’t faring any better, as it was allegedly struggling.
Given these alleged problems, Dolan theorized that the Sussexes were returning to the UK in hopes of boosting their failed brand. He added that Meghan, in particular, needed the spotlight their visit would bring because she “sees herself as the breadwinner.”
