Donald Trump’s longtime biographer, Michael Wolff, has painted a striking picture of the president’s life, describing him as increasingly isolated, both personally and politically.
In recent interviews, Wolff claimed the billionaire politician leads a largely solitary life behind closed doors and suggested even some of his closest international allies are becoming more willing to challenge him.
His remarks touched on everything from Donald Trump’s relationship with Melania Trump to a public dispute with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Donald Trump Is Viewed As ‘Post-Sexual’ By Staff And Increasingly Isolated, Biographer Says

President Trump may be one of the most recognizable figures in the world. Still, according to longtime biographer Michael Wolff, his private life is far less glamorous than his public image suggests.
Wolff, who has spent years chronicling Trump’s rise in politics and business, recently painted a picture of a president who appears to be lonely, while also facing growing resistance from allies both at home and abroad.
Speaking on The Daily Beast’s YouTube show, “Insider Trump’s Head,” the author of four books about Trump, including the bestselling “Fire and Fury,” reflected on what he believes life is really like for the president behind closed doors.
According to Wolff, many people within Trump’s circle see him as a man whose identity is almost entirely tied to his public persona. He claimed the 80-year-old is “regarded among his staff as post-sexual,” adding that there is little speculation about any romantic or intimate relationships in his life.
“There is at least nobody who is whispering he has a sexual relationship with anyone,” Wolff said, per The Mirror. “Here is someone who has no comfort, no warmth, who is alone.”
He continued: “He is a man who by all appearances is alone in the White House. He doesn’t have anyone to tend to him, to comfort him, to love him. It is all about being a singular public person.”
Michael Wolff Claims Melania Trump Kept Her Distance During Her Husband’s 2024 Campaign

The biographer’s remarks also touched on Trump’s relationship with his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, whose limited public appearances during the 2024 election campaign sparked widespread speculation.
Wolff noted that she was largely absent from campaign events until the final weeks of the race.
According to him, her reluctance to appear alongside her husband became a source of discussion within campaign circles.
He claimed Melania often avoided sitting beside Trump during major events, adding: “She would not sit in the VIP box next to him. She would only come into the VIP box when he had left to give his speech.”

While Wolff’s comments focused on Trump’s personal life, he also believes the president is facing a different challenge on the international stage: world leaders who are becoming increasingly willing to push back against him.
Speaking on another episode of “Inside Trump’s Head,” Wolff pointed to Trump’s recent clash with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as a sign that foreign leaders are no longer as eager to accommodate him as they once were.
The disagreement began after Trump claimed Meloni had “begged” to be photographed with him during the G7 summit in France, suggesting she wanted the images to boost her standing back home.
According to Wolff, however, the dispute was never really about a photograph. Instead, he believes Trump’s frustration stems from Europe’s reluctance to fully support his stance on Iran.
Meloni, whom Wolff described as “probably his most reliable supporter in Europe,” has nevertheless joined other European leaders in distancing themselves from deeper involvement in the conflict.

Wolff also argued that Trump often turns personal frustrations into public statements, making disagreements that might otherwise remain private impossible to ignore.
“There is this annoyance factor, and with Trump, an annoyance factor almost necessarily must be expressed,” Wolff explained. “He’s going to express it in that kind of meandering, free-association, you-never-know-what-to-expect way that he does. It’s just part of what Trump is.”
That appeared to be the case when Trump spoke to Italian broadcaster La7 and took aim at Meloni directly.
“She’s probably happy I talked to her,” he said. “I didn’t have to talk to her. She begged me to take a picture with her. She wanted a picture with me so badly. I wouldn’t have taken it, but I felt sorry for her.”
Giorgia Meloni Slams Donald Trump’s ‘Completely Fabricated’ Claim She ‘Begged’ For Photo

Rather than letting Trump’s remarks slide, Meloni responded swiftly and forcefully, rejecting the US president’s claims in a strongly worded video statement.
“Neither I nor Italy ever beg,” the Italian prime minister said, firmly dismissing Trump’s account of events.
Calling the comments “completely fabricated,” Meloni expressed disbelief at Trump’s remarks and questioned why he would publicly target a close ally.
“I am frankly astonished,” she said in Italian. “I don’t know why the president of the United States behaves this way toward his allies, and this is not the first time.”
Trump has since doubled down on his attack on Meloni, leaving the relationship between the two in a tense state.
