Kate Cassidy is opening up about her relationship struggles since bidding farewell to Liam Payne!

The media personality got candid about handling relationships following the death of the One Direction star in 2024, two days after she left him on a vacation in Argentina.

Kate Cassidy and Liam Payne were in a relationship for two years before he died. The couple made their red carpet debut at the British Fashion Awards in London in December 2022.

Kate Cassidy Reveals Checking Things Liam Payne Would Or Wouldn’t Do In New Relationship

The social media influencer hopped on TikTok with a brief confession about a part of her that will not go away when it comes to subsequent relationships after she lost Payne nearly two years ago. She opened the floor by declaring, “I got broken up with, I got dumped, you guys.”

Cassidy explained that while she moves on very fast from a failed relationship and has been experiencing a very blissful interaction with the opposite sex intimately, there is still an elephant in the room.

She described her most recent romantic partner as a really sweet person who is an embodiment of all she wanted in a guy, and they had met each other’s families while going on vacations.

Cassidy continued that dating after losing someone she thought she would spend the rest of her life with is not the easiest, as she keeps physically looking for Payne in everyone.

“If they don’t hit all the checkmarks, I tend to either back away or almost like resent this person… There are certain times that I would get so angry with this guy because I physically would be like Liam would do this, so why aren’t you doing this?” she added.

Cassidy revealed that the guy subsequently ended things with her, which she understands, but also feels sad about it, as she does not like losing people, especially at the beginning of relationships.

Cassidy’s fans and followers took to the comment section with their thoughts on her confession, advising that her relationships may never work out as long as she keeps comparing her love interests to Payne.

“Personally, I’d leave too. I respect the guy for knowing his worth. Comparing someone to an ex is unfair. The guy has feelings, too, and deserves to be valued for who he is, not compared to someone from the past. People should wait until they are ready to date,” this user declared.

Another TikToker added that Payne is always keeping an eye on Cassidy, and despite how hard it may feel for her right now, she will get over it. One more user stated that they also experienced two failed relationships after losing their partner in 2023.

This TikTok user suggested that Cassidy should consider slowing down on moving on too soon, but if she has to, whoever that person will be must be prepared to wait for her to heal.

Kate Cassidy Reportedly Battled With Depression Post Liam Payne’s Death

The 27-year-old did not have it easy after her boyfriend plunged to his death from a hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16, 2024. According to one of her close friends, there were days the influencer struggled to find any reason to smile or even hold everyday conversations.

As noted by The Blast, the friend recalled Cassidy canceling several hangouts while battling depression and struggling to find purpose. Cassidy herself confessed at a benefit for The National Alliance on Mental Illness earlier in October that she spent so much time dealing with the pain and grief and watching much of her life go by.

Another source revealed that the series of controversies that followed Payne’s death did not move Cassidy because she believed in the love she shared with the singer. Whatever happened after the influencer departed from Argentina does not change how much she loved and adored the musician.

“She’s hanging out with friends and open to dating again, although she’s not quite there yet. She’s trying to move forward because she knows that’s what Liam would have wanted for her,” the source explained.

Cassidy was one of the last to spend time with Payne, and she shared one of the memories that felt so meaningful to her. As shared by The Blast in April, Cassidy shared a rare video on Instagram featuring moments with Payne before his passing on October 16, 2024.

The clip began with the influencer riding a horse while donned in a relaxed, sporty outfit, including a fitted grey zip-up crop top with high-waisted leggings, as she confidently rode across the field. The video later showed the musician taking lessons from a horse trainer before additional clips captured Cassidy horseback riding and Payne enjoying the open space nearby.

Cassidy reflected on how unpredictable life can be and encouraged her followers to always treasure meaningful moments because she never imagined that day would become her final time seeing Payne, although it remained a special memory. The emotional post drew an outpouring of support from fans, with many thanking Cassidy for sharing such a personal moment.

Several followers described the video as touching and said seeing previously unseen memories of the couple made the loss feel even more emotional. Others praised Cassidy’s strength as she continues to navigate life after Payne’s death.

According to new court documents, Payne’s only child, eight-year-old Bear Grey Payne, is confirmed as the sole beneficiary of the late One Direction singer, since he died without leaving a will.

Furthermore, Payne was neither married nor in a civil partnership at the time of his death, which meant that the United Kingdom intestacy laws directed his estate to his son, whom he shares with Cheryl Cole.

Findings also showed that Payne’s estate has been revalued compared to earlier estimates, which placed the estate at over £24 million; updated estimates now state his estate at about £22 million. As for Cassidy, she will not be getting any part of the singer’s multi-million-pound estate.

However, questions had previously surrounded whether Cassidy, who had been residing in Florida with Payne before his death, would pursue a legal claim. Sources close to her claim that it would not happen as Cassidy is not interested in challenging any inheritance arrangement made.
