John Schneider has denied his ex-wife, Elvira Schneider‘s, eight-figure sum claim.
The American actor has now approached the court with an explanation that monetary claims made by his ex-wife are not accurate, and he will not be making such damaging financial commitments.
John Schneider and Elvira Schneider’s marriage ended when the latter filed for divorce in 2014 after over two decades of marriage, with a settlement in 2019 where the actor was ordered to pay her a monthly spousal support of $25,000.
John Schneider Insists His Ex-Wife’s Eight-Figure Sum Does Not Add Up

The actor showed up in court with an argument that his ex-wife is not being honest with the numbers she claims he owes her in spousal support. The actor has reportedly filed new court documents asking a judge to reject the latest request from his ex-wife in their ongoing legal dispute.
As expressed in the filing, John argued that his estranged wife has failed to provide any sufficient evidence to bolster her claim that he truly owes $2.3 million in spousal support debt. He insists that there are calculation mistakes in the amount she submitted.
TMZ noted that in the initial filing, John was said to be owing approximately $2,382,548, with about $1 million of the sum tied to accumulated interest.
In addition to her spousal support request, Elvira is also seeking access to portions of her ex-husband’s Screen Actors Guild pension benefits and his Social Security payments until the alleged debt is satisfied.
As for the actor, the fight to contest both the amount and the collection effort in court continues, as he insists he will not pay what he does not owe.
The Filmmaker Faced A Brief Stint In Jail Back In 2018 Over Alimony Debt

The actor and his estranged partner are no strangers to a string of court cases associated with their divorce. The Blast noted that back in 2020, Elvira had accused the actor of falling behind on spousal support payments by nearly $1 million.
She revealed at the time that her ex-husband was raking in a monthly revenue of $172,000 per month, and while she was not demanding immediate full repayment, she would like to get a portion of his earnings.
Elvira noted that the earnings were received directly from a large number of studios (running into 30) and production companies that the actor had worked with so far. The legal battle dates back even further, and in 2018, John was slammed with a three-day stay in Los Angeles County jail after he reportedly failed to pay more than $150,000 in alimony.
The actor was released after a few hours due to overcrowding, prompting the court to order him to complete 240 hours of community service and satisfy additional financial obligations tied to the case.
John Schneider Gave Marriage Another Shot After Split From Elvira Schneider

Prior to his current marriage to Dee Dee Sorvino, John had found love with Alicia Allain, and they solidified their union with a private ceremony in 2019. Unfortunately, Alicia passed away from breast cancer at age 53 in February, an unfortunate memory that struck a painful chord in the actor’s heart.
The actor broke his silence after Allain’s death, revealing that he felt grateful to be able to spend time with her, although they had set several plans in motion before she passed. He admitted that he misses her every day, and they actually decided to get married after her diagnosis, against all odds.
“I have to get to the point where I look around and see where she is, not where she’s not. And I’m trying to do that, but that’s hard. Somehow, I love her more every minute, but with that, somehow I miss her more every minute,” he stressed.
The Filmmaker’s Divorce Battle Included Jail Time, Garnishment Threats, And Mounting Support Debt

The divorce process between Elvira and John officially ended on December 18, 2019, closing a chapter that began when Elvira filed for divorce on December 12, 2014.
In their settlement, the couple agreed to split the actor’s retirement benefits, including those from SAG and DGA. As noted by The Blast, Elvira was also granted title to a commercial property in Apple Valley, California.
At one point in the battle, the actor’s ex sought to garnish John’s earnings, including money tied to his appearance on “Dancing With the Stars,” in an effort to retrieve overdue support.
During the battle, Elvira tried to receive unpaid child support from Schneider’s appearances on “Dancing With the Stars.” The court additionally directed Schneider to pay his estranged wife’s litigation costs, which reportedly totaled nearly $280,000 for nearly five years of litigation.
Inside John Schneider’s Current Marriage
John tied the knot for the fourth time with Sorvino in an interesting twist of fate, where they both lost their partners about two years before they exchanged vows.
As shared by PEOPLE, the actor and Sorvino revealed their relationship in 2024 as he described their meeting as a divine process of God sending a widower to a widow just when he was about to give up on love.
While John is famous for his roles in “The Dukes of Hazzard” and “Smallville” and being a country singer, Sorvino is an Emmy Award-winning host with work experience spanning across Fox News and the CBS Morning Show.
The couple bonded through their mutual losses as John attended events in honor of Sorvino’s husband. John and Sorvino’s first meeting in person was in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Museum, at the opening of the Abbott and Costello exhibit in July 2023.
The wedding happened in Las Vegas in 2024 at Vegas Wedding in a white convertible previously owned by Usher.
