Donald Trump’s tendency to make bizarre posts on Truth Social is now being questioned by his former biographer, Michael Wolff.

The veteran reporter discussed Trump’s behavior on his podcast, including what he believes it could suggest about the president’s mental stability and his ability to continue leading the United States.

Donald Trump Biographer Says His Posts Have ‘Departed Reality’

In a recent episode of his Daily Beast podcast, Michael Wolff heavily criticized Donald Trump’s growing habit of making controversial posts on Truth Social.

Wolff described the president’s posts as “bizarre, unhinged, irrational,” and said they had “in every possible way departed reality.” He also said he found it shocking that major news outlets were not treating the commander-in-chief’s behavior as concerning enough to call him out.

“How do you react to that? Nobody actually has quite reacted to this,” the reporter said in the episode titled “Inside Trump’s Head.” “There are no headlines in The New York Times that say, ‘The president of the United States has flipped his lid,’ which in any reasonable, fair-minded reading of what he posts on social media… that’s the conclusion that you would come to.”

Wolff Says Trump’s Late-Night Posts Would Alarm Any Family

According to research conducted by the platform, Trump posted on his Truth Social account nearly every night throughout April, missing only five nights. Many of the posts reportedly came during late-night or early-morning hours and often included strange memes or criticism aimed at people he viewed as rivals or enemies.

Reflecting on the behavior, Wolff argued that if it involved anyone else, it would immediately be viewed as a mental health crisis requiring intervention.

“If this were a family member of literally anybody, anybody who stayed up all night and posted — sometimes in a night, a hundred posts — this kind of wingnut stuff, that would be a mental health crisis,” the longtime reporter argued.

While discussing Trump’s late-night posting habits on Truth Social, Wolff also raised the question of what should be done to restrain Trump.

“What do you do with a situation in which you have the president of the United States who is openly — without any kind of inhibition whatsoever, in print, in black and white, in his own hand — delivering these statements, which are off the beam constantly?” Wolff said.

He added, “What do you do with the clear evidence that the President of the United States is behaving in a way that for anyone else — your own family members, CEOs of other companies — would beg for an intervention?” Rather than offering a direct answer, Wolff left the question open-ended, seemingly suggesting that little could realistically be done given Trump’s position and influence.

Trump’s Former Press Secretary Joins The Criticism

Wolff has not been the only figure within political circles to voice concern over Trump’s erratic online behavior.

Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham has repeatedly criticized the president, including recently describing him as “not well” after Trump made a threatening remark about the destruction of “a whole civilization” in Iran.

“I’m going to ask again, where is the leadership in Congress? He’s clearly not well (I don’t enjoy saying that) & ur nowhere to be found. This isn’t “just Trump being Trump” & u ALL know it,” Grisham wrote on X.

One of Trump’s controversial posts dates back to the nationwide “No Kings” protests in October 2025. Trump shared an AI-generated video showing himself wearing a crown and piloting a fighter jet labeled “King Trump,” while appearing to dump excrement on protesters below.

Earlier in February, he also posted a meme depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes. The post drew intense criticism online and was eventually deleted by the president.

Then, on April 12, the president stirred further controversy after sharing an image of himself portrayed as Jesus, in which he appeared to heal a man lying in a bed.

In the same month, the president took a sharp swipe at Pope Leo XIV, calling him “weak on crime” after the pontiff urged a peaceful resolution to the escalating U.S.-Iran tensions.

“Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician,” Trump wrote.
