Following Kate Middleton’s return to the royal limelight, fans of the future queen have been encouraged to see her gradually resume a more visible role within the monarchy.

However, some royal experts have raised concerns about what her future workload may entail, saying she will likely continue to prioritize her health and family over a full return to royal duties.

Kate has also offered a rare glimpse into how her cancer journey affected those closest to her, including her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, as well as her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton.

Kate has been easing back into the royal spotlight amid her recovery from cancer, with doubts that she has made a full return to her official duties. As royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams suggests, things will likely look different to accommodate her health.

“The future will look very different,” he told the Daily Mail, adding that her “life-changing” cancer diagnosis will see her shift her priorities toward her family, although her engagements will increasingly be of a “less stressful” nature.

Kate’s recent visit to a cancer center in Manchester also offered a deeply personal reminder of why her return is being handled carefully. While speaking to a patient and her partner, the Princess of Wales acknowledged that cancer treatment affects more than just the patient.

“I know it’s just as hard for families and loved ones,” she said, before adding, “I know how hard it was for the children and my parents. You go through it with them.”

Kate Balances Duty With Motherhood

When it was announced that the Princess of Wales had entered remission, she said she was “looking forward to being back at work,” but added that her focus was on “doing what I can to stay cancer-free.”

She missed several royal events to focus on her health, including last year’s edition of Prince William’s Earthshot Prize in Rio de Janeiro, as well as Royal Ascot.

According to the news outlet, Fitzwilliams noted that her health condition has now caused her to have a sense of duty first to her children, even as she continues her recovery journey.

“Her life’s work is in early childhood, and she was working on this as soon as she was able,” the expert noted. “Yet after her devastating experience, there has clearly been a fundamental change.”

He added that she and her husband will still be making school runs “while charting a path back to normality.”

Fitzwilliams maintained that Kate’s recent active duties mark a “new milestone” in her gradual return to public life and signal a more measured outlook for her and her team.

He added that it also likely points to an “altered” approach to her engagements, as she might not be saddled with as many stressful responsibilities moving forward.

“In time, there will be more engagements, but these may very well be in an altered and less stressful form,” the commentator said. The approach suggests Kate’s future schedule may be more carefully structured around her recovery, allowing her to remain visible within the monarchy without returning to the same level of pressure too quickly.

Kate Honors Diana At ‘Trooping The Colour’

Kate’s recent “Trooping the Colour” appearance seemed to carry a lot of weight, both personal and symbolic.

As the Princess of Wales rode in the carriage with her children, royal watchers noticed that Charlotte appeared to echo her mother’s look with a bracelet similar to Kate’s. That particular detail stood out because Kate was wearing Princess Diana’s three-strand pearl bracelet, a meaningful heirloom that Prince William inherited after his mother’s death and later gave to his wife, per Fox News.

Kate paired the bracelet with a baby-blue Catherine Walker outfit and Philip Treacy hat for the annual celebration of King Charles’ official birthday. The coordinated family appearance also included Princes George and Louis.

Meanwhile, Kate’s sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, recently faced criticism over a gift she sent to online supporter The Notorious JTB.

The influencer is known for defending the Duchess of Sussex while also criticizing senior royals, including William and Kate. The outspoken YouTuber shared a video of a box of Meghan’s As Ever products and said he was stunned to have received the package from the Duchess.

The gesture sparked backlash from fans, with one X user claiming it proved Meghan was aware of the online attacks aimed at William, Kate, King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the wider royal family.
