The actress and Justin Baldoni partly settled their lawsuit, leaving all but her demands for damages, and now that seemed to have been struck out as well.

The actress seemingly lost her bid to receive punitive or triple damages from Baldoni, but a judge has ruled that her attorney fees will be sorted by the director’s team.

As it stands, no actual figure has been released on how much Justin and Wayfarer production company would shell out.

Lively’s partial victory came after a June 1 hearing in Manhattan federal court, where the actress’s legal team argued that Baldoni’s concerns should be addressed as a retaliatory legal action and she should be compensated for the expenses incurred.

As stated by TMZ, the disagreement over payment of legal expenses has remained the elephant in the room after the broader conflict between the “It Ends With Us” co-stars had been settled.

Baldoni’s attorneys kicked against the request, insisting that Lively was attempting to reopen issues they considered already resolved.

Earlier in the year, Baldoni and Lively shocked the world with one interesting turn in the legal feud after a judge dismissed several of Lively’s claims, including allegations of sexual harassment.

They acknowledged that nothing must take away from the bigger picture behind the production, which is to raise awareness about domestic violence and campaign against it.

The statement also admitted that the process had been tough and that “concerns highlighted during the dispute deserve to be taken into consideration. Meanwhile, both parties reiterated their goal of ensuring that the workplace is free from inappropriate or avoidable conflict.

In a forward-looking closing line, the statement stated that the resolution will enable all concerned to proceed peacefully and promote more respectful dialogue both within the industry and via social media.

The actress is reportedly not convinced that their chapter is closed, and she is on a mission to restore the broken bond.

An insider shared that their friendship has been impacted by the public scrutiny, and this typically takes a longer time to recover from. As far as her connection to “It Ends With Us” is concerned, Swift’s official contribution to the movies was licensing her song “My Tears Ricochet” for the film’s promotional trailer.

Baldoni’s lawyers even tried to subpoena and depose the pop star in May 2025; however, a federal judge rejected it as Swift’s lawyers fought the order, stating she never set foot on set and made no creative decisions. However, Lively understands that resolving such a conflict would take time, but she is optimistic it will still work out.

The director has reportedly been figuring out a way to create a fresh path for himself since coming back from the court case.

Freedman hinted that Baldoni planned to return to work in some capacity but suggested his next chapter may not look like his previous one. It, however, remains unclear whether the comeback was for entertainment or his involvement in conversations centered on justice and accountability.
