Ghislaine Maxwell is reportedly at the center of another eyebrow-raising prison controversy, and this time, it allegedly brought daily life inside her Texas federal prison camp to a halt. According to a new report, Jeffrey Epstein’s former associate unintentionally triggered hours of lockdown chaos at the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, after reporting a personal item missing. The bizarre incident has only fueled new accusations that Ghislaine Maxwell is receiving preferential treatment behind bars.

Sources told the Daily Mail that the minimum-security prison camp was placed on lockdown in February after Maxwell alerted authorities that one of her belongings had disappeared. Hundreds of inmates were reportedly sent back to their dorms and kept there for several hours while prison staff searched the compound.

The situation allegedly began after Maxwell reported a zip-up fleece she purchased through the prison commissary had gone missing, claiming her ID badge and important papers were inside the pockets. However, the lockdown reportedly ended after another inmate came forward and explained there had been a misunderstanding.

“Max was saying she had her ID badge and important papers in the pockets. But nobody had stolen anything. This lady had picked it up to give it back to her,” a source claimed.

Despite the explanation, inmates reportedly remained confined for hours. “It was all an innocent mistake, but they still kept everyone locked down for four or five hours for their investigation,” the source added. “They do this a couple of times a month for a fight, a medical emergency, or a random count – but never for a lost sweater.”

Maxwell Is Reportedly Living A Surprisingly Comfortable Prison Life

The incident comes amid growing claims that Maxwell enjoys special privileges inside FPC Bryan, an all-female federal prison camp often considered one of the safest and most comfortable facilities in the federal system.

While many inmates reportedly share four-bed cubicles, sources claimed Maxwell only shares her space with one “bunkie,” leaving extra room for personal belongings. Among those belongings is reportedly an electric IBM typewriter that Maxwell allegedly carries between her dorm and her prison education job.

“She uses the extra space for her typewriter, which is another thing that nobody else is allowed to keep in their room,” a source alleged. “It’s an old electric IBM typewriter. She carries it around with her from the unit to her job at education.”

The source added that Maxwell is currently using the typewriter to work on a book she reportedly believes will clear her name. “She’s using it to write her book,” the source said. “The one she thinks will exonerate her.”

Prison Officials Deny Favoritism Claims

The Federal Bureau of Prisons declined to comment specifically on Maxwell but pushed back on allegations of preferential treatment.

“Any deviation from this standard undermines public trust and the fair administration of justice,” Bureau of Prisons spokesperson Donald Murphy said. “Violators may be subject to disciplinary actions, including removal from federal service and criminal prosecution.”

Maxwell, who was convicted in 2021 on multiple counts of child sex trafficking for helping groom young girls for Epstein, is currently serving a 20-year sentence. After initially beginning her sentence at a harsher prison in Florida, Maxwell was later transferred to FPC Bryan following reported threats against her life.

Despite her criminal conviction, Maxwell has reportedly spoken positively about life inside the Texas prison camp. In correspondence previously obtained by NBC, the disgraced socialite compared her experience to falling through “Alice in Wonderland’s looking glass.”

She also reportedly described the facility as orderly, safe, and surprisingly comfortable. “The kitchen looks clean too,” Maxwell reportedly wrote. “No possums falling from the ceiling to fry, unfortunately, on ovens and become mingled with the food being served.”

For critics, however, stories of lockdowns, extra privileges, and sunbathing allegations have only fueled claims that life behind bars looks very different for Maxwell than it does for many other inmates.

Maxwell’s reportedly comfortable setup marks a sharp contrast from the conditions she allegedly faced earlier in her sentence. After her 2021 conviction, the disgraced socialite initially served time at FCI Tallahassee in Florida, where reports suggested she struggled to adjust to prison life.

Maxwell was allegedly bullied by fellow inmates, criticized over her personal hygiene, and even placed in solitary confinement after giving an unauthorized media interview from behind bars. Her circumstances reportedly shifted after she agreed to meet with the Department of Justice regarding her ties to Epstein, who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial.

Shortly after her sit-down with then-Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, Maxwell was transferred to the minimum-security prison camp in Bryan, Texas. Officials later said the move stemmed from “numerous threats against her life” while she was incarcerated in Florida, though critics continue to question whether the convicted sex trafficker has received unusually favorable treatment ever since.
