“The Rosie O’Donnell Show” alum did not hide her trip to the plastic surgeon’s office, revealing her facelift stemmed from necessity rather than beauty.

On Sunday, June 7, O’Donnell flaunted the result of her facelift at the 2026 Tony Awards, rocking a dazzling smile for the cameras. She addressed her cosmetic procedure during an interview while strutting down the blue carpet in a geometrically-patterned suit with black, gold, and grey hues.

When asked if she would undergo more cosmetic procedures in the future, O’Donnell shut down the idea, saying, “No, I don’t think so.” She explained that she never got a facelift to defy aging; rather, she underwent the procedure to improve her appearance.

“I’m on Mounjaro over the last three years, I have diabetes too, and I lost over 50 pounds, and that was responsible for a lot of the extra skin that I had around my face,” O’Donnell told E! News, adding that her weight created “two lines that made me look sad.”

O’Donnell claimed the two lines that made her look sad were the biggest problem, particularly because of the friendly atmosphere in her new hometown of Howth, Ireland. She recalled getting asked if she was unhappy or upset, joking that she always replied:

“‘That’s just my face. I am not upset, it’s just how I look.'”

As for why she came forward about her cosmetic procedure, O’Donnell stressed that she only wished to be honest and not allow the media to spill the tea first. “Authenticity is the goal in these days and times,” she noted, adding that she wanted to be true to her feelings.

O’Donnell also revealed that she was initially hesitant about the procedure, with her youngest daughter, Clay, not helping the situation. She explained the teenager wasn’t a fan of the facelift and even threatened O’Donnell by declaring, “‘If you do it, I would not be able to respect you ever again.'”

Naturally, Clay’s words further fueled O’Donnell’s hesitance about getting a facelift, but it eventually didn’t stop her. “But then when I went and did it in January, I came home 10 days later, and they never noticed,” she said of her family’s reaction to the procedure.

O’Donnell reiterated that she chose to be honest about the facelift and her feelings behind the operation because she wanted the public to know. She was even happy to share her doctor’s details, but warned that the procedure was more expensive than any car she owned.

O’Donnell first opened up about her cosmetic procedure last month in an emotional Substack essay. The Blast covered the story, reporting that she penned her mixed feelings to the public, explaining that she was initially hesitant about going under the knife.

According to the TV personality, her original thoughts focused on seeing cosmetic procedures as a “betrayal” of aging and feminism. O’Donnell noted that she struggled internally with her beliefs before finally deciding to get a facelift.

She wasn’t the only one who had mixed reactions about the procedure, as some fans criticized O’Donnell on social media. These critics claimed the facelift operation was botched, arguing that O’Donnell deserved a refund as there was little to no improvement.

A month before coming clean about her facelift, The Blast shared that O’Donnell was embroiled in speculations about her possible return to the U.S. She left the States for Ireland following President Donald Trump’s return to office amid their years-long feud.

The rumors began following an AI-generated image of O’Donnell in a sparkling green dress and very curly hair. She posed like a dancer in a ballroom, with the caption claiming she would be returning to the U.S. as a participant on “Dancing with the Stars.”

O’Donnell reshaped the picture, joking that it made her realize she should never get a perm before slamming the news as false. Fans joined the fun in the comment section, with some claiming the hair helped them realize the post was fake, while others joked about O’Donnell joining the competitive series.
