“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards is facing backlash for supporting her sister, Kathy Hilton, after she stepped down as Grand Marshal Icon of WeHo’s Pride Parade. In a social media post, Richards, 57, defended her sister against claims that she’s part of the MAGA train after she was allegedly seen attending events linked to President Donald J. Trump.
Kyle Richards Defends Sister Kathy Hilton After She Stepped Down From WeHo Pride Parade
Richards shared a lengthy statement on her Instagram Stories on June 5, saying her sister, Hilton, has always been a big supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community.
“My sister Kathy has always been a supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community and will continue to be,” the Bravo veteran wrote before responding to the claims that Hilton was a Trump and MAGA supporter.
“As far as ‘MAGA ties’, just because you are acquainted with or associated with or associated with someone in the past or present, does not mean you share their political views,” she added.
Richards Said She Supports Kathy Hilton’s Decision To Step Down From Post To Limit Distractions

Richards went on to say that West Hollywood’s Pride Parade is a major celebration, and she “respects” her sister’s decision to step down as Grand Marshal Icon. “Happy Pride!” she finished.
For those who may be unfamiliar, Hilton was announced as part of the parade in late May 2026. However, her participation in the event drew significant backlash.

Social Media Users Tear Into Richards After Defending Her Sister, Kathy Hilton, From MAGA Allegations
Social media users reacted to Richards’ defense of her sister and essentially told the “RHOBH” star to stay out of the drama.
“You cannot claim to be an ally then support and vote for those taking the community’s rights away,” someone wrote.
Another said, “If you cannot unequivocally say, ‘I do not support this administration and their policies’ with your WHOLE CHEST in this climate, you’re in bed with them.”
“No one is spending time with or having ties to Trump if they don’t agree with his politics. Nice try though, Kyle,” a third user posted.
A fourth chimed in with, “Woof. I mean these are not the days to have people confused on your affiliations at all. Definitely not at Pride!”
Hilton Opens Up About Stepping Down From WeHo Pride With A Statement

Hilton responded to the backlash on June 3, revealing she had made the decision, alongside WeHo Pride, to step down from her position as Grand Marshal Icon.
In her statement, the mother of Paris and Nicky Hilton said she was “honored” to be chosen, then thanked the community members for their support over the years.
“My reason for wanting to be involved in this year’s WeHo Pride weekend was simple: to celebrate, support, and share in the joy of a community that means a great deal to so many people. Pride is, and always will be, about celebrating and uplifting LGBTQ+ voices, experiences, and achievements,” she added.
Hilton shared that she had heard the “thoughtful conversations” about her involvement with this year’s parade, and while she’s no longer part of it, she remains “deeply committed to supporting” the queer community.
According to Hilton, her support for pride and all LGBTQ+ people “is unwavering.” She called the month and WeHo Pride Parade a “monumentally important event,” and claimed that it will always have a “special place in my heart.”
Hilton Gets Even More Support From Her ‘RHOBH’ Co-Star
Hilton received even more support from her “RHOBH” co-star, Jennifer Tilly. The “Simpsons” star posted on Instagram about her friendship with Hilton and said she was a massive supporter of the LGBTQ+ community.
“She has repeatedly opened her home, her heart, and her pocketbook for LGBTQ+ causes. I’ve attended GLAAD award parties at her house, her annual Children’s hospital event at the Abbey, and she has been a longtime supporter of @projectangelfood. Kathy is an [ally] and an advocate,” she finished.
