The memories of Tatiana Schlossberg remain ever fresh in the heart of her mom, Caroline Kennedy.
The former US ambassador had tear-clouded eyes as she gave an emotional speech at the annual John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award ceremony. She recalled the good work her daughter had done before her passing last year.
Caroline Kennedy’s daughter passed away on December 30, 2025, after battling with a rare and aggressive type of bone marrow cancer. Tatiana Schlossberg’s death brought grief to the hearts of many, but not President Donald Trump, who launched a social media rant attacking the Kennedy family just hours after her death was announced.
Tatiana Schlossberg’s Death Left A Void In The Heart Of Her Mom

Kennedy gave an emotional speech at the annual John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award ceremony held at her father’s presidential library. During the speech, she memorialized her late daughter, who passed away six months ago, remembering her work.
As she struggled to fight back tears, the former ambassador commemorated the work and life of her late daughter, saying, “Most of all, we remember Tatiana, who served on the board of this library, and represented everything my parents stood for in her beautiful, amazing, and too-short life.”
Her words moved the crowd of over half a thousand people to give a resounding applause to Schlossberg for nearly 20 seconds while Kennedy gathered the strength to comport herself, quietly telling the audience “thank you” in the midst of the applause.
She gave a shout-out to her late daughters’ in-laws, Garrett and Mary Moran, who are the parents of Schlossberg’s husband, George Moran, a doctor with whom she shared two young children.
PEOPLE shared that later in the speech, the 68-year-old also memorialized Renée Good and Alex Pretti, who ICE agents killed in January.
Caroline Kennedy’s Daughter Gave Her Voice For A Good Cause Before Her Death
Schlossberg was an environmental journalist and author. Before her death, she wrote a heartbreaking essay for The New Yorker, pulling back the curtain on her fatal disease and reflecting on the decades of tragedies that plagued the extended Kennedy family.
She also called out her estranged cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.(Bobby), for the harm she claimed he was doing through his attacks on the US public health system and his alliance with Trump. In the essay published about a month before her demise, Schlossberg wrote:
“I watched from my hospital bed as Bobby, in the face of logic and common sense, was confirmed for the position, despite never having worked in medicine, public health, or the government.”
She also alleged that Bobby had cut nearly half a billion dollars meant for research into mRNA vaccines and technology that could be used against certain cancers.
Schlossberg added that he “slashed billions in funding from the National Institutes of Health, the world’s largest sponsor of medical research, and threatened to oust the panel of medical experts charged with recommending preventive cancer screenings.”
The journalist passed away after battling acute myeloid leukemia and was honored with a memorial service at St. Ignatius Loyola church in New York City on January 5.
President Donald Trump Showed No Sympathy For Tatiana Schlossberg

Shortly after Schlossberg’s death was announced, Trump took to social media, where he mocked the Kennedy clan.
The politician showed his insensitive side on Truth Social, where he shared screenshots of MAGA supporters mocking the Kennedys after the Kennedy Center was renamed to the Trump-Kennedy Center.
Although Trump did not directly mention the journalist, the timing raised eyebrows as he made the post just hours after it was announced that Schlossberg’s body had turned cold.
“The Kennedy Family has LONG neglected the Kennedy Center, btw. They don’t raise money for it. They never show up. And the only Kennedy who has been there recently is a member of Trump’s cabinet,” one of the screenshots read.
The Blast shared that rather than address the POTUS’s actions, the late journalist’s cousin, Maria Shriver, paid tribute to her online, noting that the family did everything they could for Schlossberg.
Media Personality Slammed Trump’s Actions

Jake Tapper, the lead Washington anchor for CNN, reacted to the president’s insensitive post, tagging it as “social media garage attacking the Kennedy family.”
Tapper reshared screenshots of Trump’s posts, some of which read “The Trumps have always been supporters of the arts. The Kennedys are supporters of the Kennedys.” In another screenshot, the user alleged that the Kennedys do not raise financial support for the Kennedy Center.
Another user pointed out that the Kennedys have several buildings, airports, and monuments named after them, adding that it was appropriate to have Trump’s name in the center.
As reported by KATV news, the CNN anchor connected the dots in his post, writing, “In the early afternoon, ET, the Kennedy family announced that JFK’s granddaughter Tatiana Schlossberg had died from cancer. A few hours later, President Trump re-posted some social media garbage attacking the Kennedy family.”
Trump’s Renaming Of The Kennedy Center Has Been Overturned
BBC News reported three days ago that a US judge has ordered the removal of Trump’s name from the title of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The judge ruled that the venue cannot be renamed without congressional approval, hence Trump’s name must be taken off the institution’s title, its façade, as well as any other physical or digital signage within 14 days.
The order from Judge Christopher Cooper also states that the president’s name be taken off any official material pertaining to the Performing Arts Center. The name will revert to the original name, as it was christened when it first opened in 1971, in memory of the assassinated US president.
“Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it,” Cooper’s order stressed, declaring the name: The Donald J Trump and John F Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts, which is affixed to the center’s front portico, null and void.
Trump announced a two-year closure of the venue in February for extensive renovations set to begin on July 4. Since the renaming, many artists have canceled their bookings for the venue, and ticket sales have dropped remarkably.
RIP Tatiana Schlossberg!
