Court Docs Reveal New Twist In Damian Lillard’s Divorce Fallout

Damian’s ex-wife, Kay’la, is seeking answers as part of their ongoing legal battle and is reportedly seeking to subpoena a woman to meet with her, who could be the same mother they believe the NBA star shares the child with.
Kay’la allegedly asked the mystery woman, identified as Justie Wolf, for information that is linked to a kid named Aura. The filing reportedly seeks communications between Justie and Damian around the time Damian is said to have been told he might be the child’s father.
That is not all, Kay’la also asked for evidence of conversations and text messages between the athlete and Justie about the child.
The subpoena also reportedly requests any paternity test results, possible nondisclosure agreements regarding the case, and photos of Damian with the child. According to court records obtained by TMZ, Justie is now contesting the request and the disclosure.
The NBA Player’s Estranged Wife Claimed She Raised Their Kids Alone
In 2023, KPIC reported that Kay’la took a major step to seek sole custody of their three children. Damian’s divorce filing came two months after he made the highly publicized trade to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Although the couple married in 2021, records reportedly show they had been living separately in West Linn since late 2022. Kay’la alleged that the children have been under her care for the most part since Damian moved out of their family home in October 2022.
She claimed she has been their primary caretaker since they were born because of their father’s frequent absences due to his NBA career. The documents also noted that Kay’la made major parenting decisions on her own, such as choosing the children’s schools and healthcare providers.
Justifying her request for sole custody, Kay’la argued that it had become necessary as she is best positioned to meet the children’s needs. Kay’la also revealed that Damian has not been caring for the kids on his own without nannies or assistants.
Damian Lillard’s Ex Sought Court Intervention If Custody Talks Fail
The petition also stated that Damian’s relationship with the children became superficial after he moved out. Kay’la noted that these meetings typically lasted between 30 minutes and 1 hour several times weekly, when he was available.
Kay’la emphasized her willingness to preserve the father-children relationship, noting that she is willing to work toward a custody arrangement without going to court.
However, she asked the court to intervene if the two sides are unable to reach an agreement. Kay’la also mentioned maintaining the basketballer’s public image, revealing that she continued supporting the public perception of him as a devoted family man despite their separation.
Inside The Estranged Couple’s Love Story Before Divorce
As PEOPLE notes, Damian and Kay’la’s relationship began long before the NBA check came in, as they met while attending Weber State University in Utah and stayed together for over a decade before tying the knot. Reflecting on life as a married man in 2022, the NBA player admitted that marriage was not really in the works.
However, his wife and their kids have become an integral part of his world, without which he cannot exist. The pro basketballer then recalled everything that happened during his proposal to Kay’la, revealing that he secretly flew both sides of the family to Chicago without Kay’la’s knowledge.
He had told her they were attending an NBA Valentine’s Day event, only to surprise her at a venue decorated with a wall of roses and a “Will You Marry Me?” display before getting down on one knee.
Damian later had a medical setback in 2021, when he suffered an abdominal injury that sidelined him and led to surgery and rehab in early 2022, though he returned in mid-2022.
The NBA star said in hindsight, his wife and kids were instrumental in keeping him positive during his rehabilitation. He said that a defining part of the experience was spending more time with his family, which he found to be one of the most rewarding experiences.
Damian also said they had some time to reconnect outside their normal routine and that they enjoyed doing things spontaneously together with Kay’la.
Damian Lillard’s Snatched NBA Cup And Big Payday In 2024 Amid Troubled Marriage

With significant career victories in 2024, it seemed like things were going well for Damian, but his life outside the game was not. The NBA’s 2024 Emirates NBA Cup winner, the Milwaukee Bucks, got a $500,000 bonus per player when they swept Oklahoma City in the playoffs.
As reported by The Blast, Damian revealed in advance that he would be spending some of the funds on his team’s staff, not just himself. In his words:
“I’ll probably go to the support staff, our training staff, the people that come in every day, all day, when we get to go home. I’m going to try to do something to support them. Not the whole 500, just a little portion of it.”
Shortly after the victory, another career milestone followed. ESPN shared that the NBA star had agreed to a lifetime contract extension with Adidas, extending a partnership that began during his early years with the Portland Trail Blazers. The deal secured his future with the brand alongside other Adidas stars.
