Sydney Sweeney has a simple response to the haters, and she is taking them to school with it.

The actress has been in the headlines recently over controversy spiking from different angles, including her character, Cassie, on the hit HBO show “Euphoria.” She was previously called out for the explicit scenes involving her role, especially by members of the adult content creators community.

The days of Sydney Sweeney’s silence in the face of the backlash seem to be over, with her clapback gaining traction and applause. After the second season aired, she received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2022.

Sweeney uploaded a photo dump of moments from behind the scenes of the third season of “Euphoria.” The carousel of photos features the actress with some of her co-stars, including her on-screen love interest, Jacob Elordi.

Several images show solo shots of the movie star posing in some of her characters’ more revealing and racy costumes worn during filming, including the outfit for the dog scene, which has become a bone of contention for real-life adult content creators. 

In one of the twenty photos, Sweeney was captured almost completely in the nude with leaf covers for her nipples and privates, along with sheer pantyhose and a yellow python wrapped around her.

One shot, with the live reptile, was taken during a sensual photoshoot sequence that was filmed at a strip club for her character, Cassie’s, OnlyFans storyline. 

Sweeney captioned the post, “it’s called… acting,” a subtle but firm response to the backlash that has recently risen over a part of her storyline in the most recent season of “Euphoria.”

Fans Are Praising The Actress For Her Role And Response

The “Euphoria” star’s post has gathered over 2 million reactions in less than 24 hours. Many fans wasted no time singing her praises for playing her character on the show so well. “For everyone complaining, Sydney is the best in season 3, stunning acting,” a fan wrote.

Another commenter doubles down with the remark, writing “the best actor of this season,” and many seem to agree, as the comment has over a thousand likes.

More fans echoed similar praises for Sweeney, writing,” Cassie carried this season single-handedly,” and another added that she is “such an amazing actress.” A different fan commented that the photos were fire, while others tagged the actress as being “so iconic [pink heart emoji].”

A commenter took a jab at the haters, writing a line from the popular 2005 hit by Chamillionaire, “They see me rollin’, they hatin’.” A comment that gathered over 20 thousand likes read, “Acted so good people are HATING.”

Another netizen remarked that Sweeney’s photos and role were proof that when one is so good at what they do, people hate them for it. Others complimented the movie star simply writing “beautiful” and “iconic.”

Critics Previously Tagged Sweeney’s Scenes As ‘Disturbing’

Real-life OnlyFans stars raised their voices against the representation of adult content played in scenes by Cassie, who resorted to joining the platform to raise money for her wedding to Nate, played by Elordi.

They claimed that scenes where she dressed up as a dog and pretended to be a baby in a diaper were “disturbing” and “infuriating.”

As reported by The Blast, Sydney Leathers, who has been an adult creator on OnlyFans since 2017,  also slammed the show’s portrayal of sex workers as “ridiculous and cartoonish.”

Another adult content creator, Maitland Ward, described Sweeney’s scene in which she was shown dressed as a baby with a pacifier in her mouth, in a diaper, and holding up both of her legs as “beyond troubling.”

They explained that such stereotypes, which chanel the misbelief that OF content creators would do anything for money, should not be globally portrayed as they are far from the truth.

Someone else remarked that the scenes on the hit show made it seem as though money comes easily on the platform, whereas they have to put in the work to “really grow and nurture a fan base.”

The Actress Recently Lost A Role In A Big Movie

Sweeney reportedly filmed a three-minute scene for “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” but the scene did not make the final cut for the movie. The scene was reportedly cut just days before the film hit the big screens.

Sources close to production claimed that dropping the “Anyone, but You” actress from the project was a “creative decision,” although the team was “grateful for her participation.”

As reported by The Blast, more alleged reasons for the cut came to light in connection with her political stance, as it was recently revealed that she is a registered Republican.

However, a source close to the actress is blaming “Hollywood wokesters” who have become hugely critical of Sweeney because of her perceived conservative views. 

Other reports suggest that the director, David Frankel, and the editing team took out the scene because they did not see it work structurally with the rest of the movie.

On the other hand, some insiders perceive this to be strongly tied to Sweeney’s fast-rising stardom, attributing it to “old-fashioned jealousy.”

Sydney Sweeney’s Co-Star Shared Her Views On Her Character

Chloe Cherry, who plays Faye Valentine on “Euphoria,” commented on Cassie’s character development and the switch in the character as compared to the previous portrayals.

Cherry noted that it felt quite unbelievable to see Cassie, someone from a privileged background, resort to becoming an OnlyFans content creator.

Cassie, in the previous seasons, was portrayed as someone from a relatively stable suburban background with reasonable economic and social privilege.

The Blast reports that, compared to the other characters on the show, Sweeney’s character was well-to-do; her path to raise the much-needed funds for her wedding on the show was quite shocking.

Cherry explained that the contrast of Cassie’s background and the path she chose is a typical representation of how many are pushed into the adult content creation industry due to the horrible economy.

This was relatable to Cherry as she had a bit of experience in the adult film industry before switching to mainstream acting.
