Chelsea Handler made the news recently for finally revealing she parted ways with her mystery man, whom she met during a poker game at The Cosmopolitan in Vegas in November 2025.

On the May 26 episode of Kristin Cavallari’s “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, Handler got down to the business of spilling tea about a “bad celebrity date story” involving a celebrity chef, Bobby Flay.

According to the television personality, the two got familiar during her stay at a hotel with her friends during a Netflix-related trip.

Handler further revealed that they spent time flirting over the phone before Flay offered to order room service for her and her friends because he was familiar with the hotel.

However, things took a different turn with the situation, and everything became awkward as the bill was sent to her instead of Flay. Handler admitted she later discovered her new flame had a reputation for being “cheap.”

This came in contrast to one of Handler’s core values in any relationship or friendship, which is generosity. The pair still decided to go on another date afterward, but Handler concluded that things ultimately felt “messy” and the connection simply was not there.

Handler also got honest about her dating habits, revealing that the timeline for all the excitement typically lasts for the first six months, after which the relationship’s longevity comes into question.

The comedian admitted on the “Let’s Be Honest” podcast that she had a brief fling with a mystery man she met in Las Vegas while playing blackjack and dubbed “Cowboy.”

As noted by The Blast, the two reportedly dated for approximately five to six months and even went as far as Canada, Turkey, and Finland together, which created rumors of their dating relationship turning serious.

However, Handler explained that while the romance was fun, passionate, and exciting, she eventually reached the point she often does in relationships where the initial thrill begins to wear off.

The media personality admitted that most of her relationships tend to follow a similar timeline before she starts losing interest in the long-term aspect of things. Nonetheless, Handler explained the split was absolutely amicable and stated there is always the chance she and “Cowboy” may meet again “down the road” casually. 

The comedian also confirmed that she is not interested in the traditional duties that make up a long-term relationship, commonly related to relationship permanence or strongly connected family dynamics. Handler insisted that she favors relationships that include fun, connection, and freedom.

Handler is sticking to her non-conforming method of dating and has shared the reasons behind her intentional preference for younger men after she turned 50.

During a March appearance on “The View,” the comedian spoke candidly about her romance with Largura after fans noticed what many called a subtle “hard launch” of their relationship online.

Handler explained that she had teased photos of the romance on social media, but intentionally refrained from making any big announcements or stepping up to a boyfriend label.

The reality star shared that she had been dating older men for years, and she wanted to go outside of her comfort zone to find something different to date younger men.

The comedian spoke about dating, relationships, the presidency of Donald Trump, and the activities of Musk in the government through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

As shared by The Blast, during the discussion, Swisher joked that she would propose to Handler and the Tesla billionaire to get together for the good of the country. Handler immediately laughed off the idea, making it clear she had zero interest in pursuing a romance with Musk.

Handler also critiqued Musk and his role in Trump’s administration, questioning why he gets unrestricted access to the inner workings of the government.

She questioned whether the politician was democratically elected, and wondered why there is no unity in the agitation to kick out the billionaire and other elite class in government. 

In addition to the jokes, Handler’s earlier political remarks about America had a more reflective tone as she confessed that Trump’s first presidency had a profound impact on her emotionally, and she was not very happy in her youth.

Despite her vocal nature condemning the elitist culture in America, Handler reportedly faced criticism over her past connections within Hollywood’s elite social circles.

In a report from Rob Shuter’s “Naughty But Nice” Substack, some insiders from the comedy world questioned Handler’s outspoken criticism of Hollywood culture.

A source claimed that the comedian was once a regular face in the circle and participated in the same questionable environment she now picks an issue with.

The source continued that the comedian frequently attended exclusive dinners, Oscar parties, and other high-profile gatherings hosted by disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein during the height of his influence in Hollywood.

Another insider also noted that Handler benefited from the very culture she now publicly mocks, arguing that many celebrities, including the comedian, navigated the same power-driven system to promote their careers in the industry.

Weinstein’s events, according to another source, were widely viewed as platforms for networking and career advancement rather than purely social events, explaining that many attendees were motivated by access and professional gain.
