Brazilian bodybuilder and fitness influencer Gabriel Ganley died at the age of 22, with reports pointing to a possible heart-related condition.

He was found unresponsive in his São Paulo apartment, with no signs of violence reported. The influencer, who had built a large online following through fitness content, was confirmed dead in a tribute by his sponsor.

Ganley is believed to have died suddenly from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, according to his death certificate obtained by G1 Globo (via People Magazine).

It is a condition that causes the heart muscle to become abnormally thickened, making it more difficult for the heart to pump blood effectively, as explained by the Mayo Clinic.

In the meantime, authorities are still working to determine the official cause of death. The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) said investigations are ongoing while forensic results from the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) are being awaited.

CNN Brasil reported that Ganley was discovered unresponsive in the kitchen of his São Paulo apartment by a friend on Saturday, May 23.

No “signs of violence” were reportedly found at the scene. Police documents cited by G1 also noted that he had not been in contact with family or friends for roughly two days before he was found.

The brand remembered him as more than a rising athlete, praising his dedication, impact, and the inspiration he gave to his growing audience.

In their statement, they noted that he made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered, adding that his “charisma, his presence, and his passion for life will live on in the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him and walking alongside him.”

Ganley had built a strong digital presence, amassing about 2.3 million followers on Instagram, along with millions more across TikTok and YouTube. He frequently shared workout routines, fitness progress, and lifestyle content with his followers.
