Donald Trump declared that “everything checked out perfectly” after undergoing a routine medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
The president, who turns 80 next month, offered no further details about the exam, even as public focus remains fixed on his health and fitness for office.
That scrutiny has grown in recent months, with polls showing that more than half of the public does not believe Trump has the mental acuity needed to continue serving as president.
Donald Trump Says His Medical Exam Went ‘Perfectly’
Trump has completed his routine medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center ahead of his 80th birthday on June 14.
After the visit, Trump took to Truth Social to declare that the exam had gone well, writing that “everything checked out perfectly.” However, the president offered no further details about what doctors found or whether a full medical report would be released.
According to the BBC, such exams generally cover cardiovascular health, cancer screening, dermatology, and neurological tests, among other checks. Although the examination was framed as part of the first citizen’s regular preventive healthcare, it comes after months of public scrutiny over Trump’s health.
The billionaire politician has often boasted about his health and vigor, making medical fitness a major talking point during his 2024 campaign against Biden, whom he frequently mocked as “Sleepy Joe.”
Trump’s Walter Reed Visits Have Raised Eyebrows

Trump’s latest visit to Walter Reed marks his third trip to the military medical center in just over a year.
He first checked in for a physical medical examination in April last year, before returning in October for what the White House described as a “scheduled follow-up.” However, that second visit sparked concern after reports emerged suggesting he had received an MRI.
By December, the White House announced that Trump had undergone a CT scan to further assess his “cardiovascular and abdominal health,” though his physician, Capt. Sean Barbabella insisted that he “remains in excellent overall health.”
In January, Trump told The Wall Street Journal that he regretted getting the CT scan because of the speculation that followed. At the time, bruising on his hand was still visible, which he attributed to taking too much aspirin. “Aspirin is good for thinning out the blood,” Trump told the outlet, adding that he did not want “thick blood pouring through [his] heart.”
Donald Trump’s Health Scrutiny Goes Beyond Walter Reed

Trump has already visited his dentist in West Palm Beach twice this year, neglecting to use the dental clinic at the White House, per USA Today.
Medical tests and the public release of the results have seen recent adoptions at the White House, especially after details of former presidents’ health status emerge following their exit from office. That could be because recent presidents have been generally older, with Biden being elected into office at age 78.
Trump remains the oldest to have sworn the oath to lead the country, and has faced questions over his several sleepy appearances in high-level meetings, including a session with his Cabinet.
“Some people said, ‘he closed his eyes.’ Look, it got pretty boring,” he told officials in February, per The Guardian. “I didn’t sleep. I just closed them because I wanted to get the hell outta here.”
More Voters Appear To Doubt Trump’s Fitness For Office

Meanwhile, Trump’s mental and physical fitness has come under intense scrutiny, with recent polls showing that a sizeable number of Americans do not believe he is fit enough to remain president.
Findings from The Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll revealed that 59% of respondents do not believe Trump has the mental acuity needed for the presidency, while 55% do not think he is physically healthy enough to carry out his duties.
The figures also suggest that concerns over his physical fitness have grown over time. Last year, when respondents were asked the same question, 45% said they did not believe Trump was physically fit enough to discharge his presidential duties.
Donald Trump Pushes Back On Health Concerns
Despite the chatter, Trump has continued to insist that he is mentally and physically healthy enough to lead the country.
The president has not taken a break from his official duties and recently completed a trip to China, where he met with President Xi Jinping. He has also continued to carry out other high-profile engagements as scrutiny over his age and stamina persists.
During a fundraiser earlier this year, Trump also claimed that his former White House doctor, Ronny Jackson, once described him as “by far” the healthiest of the last three presidents, including the much younger Barack Obama.
“He took a lot of heat for this,” Trump said of Jackson, per The Independent. “They said, ‘Who is the healthiest of the three?’ He said, ‘Donald J. Trump by far. If he didn’t eat junk food, he’d live to 200 years old.’ And I love this guy.”
