Aaron Rodgers may finally be preparing for his last ride in the NFL. After signing a $25 million deal to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 22nd season, the veteran quarterback has reportedly decided that 2026 will mark the end of his football career.

However, unlike other NFL legends who transitioned into broadcasting and celebrity status after retirement, insiders say Aaron plans to disappear almost entirely from public life.

According to sources, a promise to his mysterious wife Brittani is shaping what comes next.

Aaron Rodgers confirmed during the Steelers’ OTA workouts that the upcoming 2026 season will be his final year in the NFL.

The 42-year-old quarterback reportedly has no interest in extending his football career beyond one last season in Pittsburgh, even though many retired stars continue thriving in the spotlight long after leaving the field.

A source told the Daily Mail that Aaron has already decided what his life after football will look like and fame is not part of it.

“After this season, don’t expect to see much of Aaron Rodgers in the public eye,” the insider shared, adding, “Once his career ends, he plans to step away from that world almost entirely.”

According to the source, Aaron has no desire to pursue television work or become a football analyst like many former quarterbacks.

“Outside of a future Hall of Fame appearance or maybe the occasional Kentucky Derby sighting, he has no interest in television work or staying in the spotlight,” the insider explained.

Instead, the NFL star reportedly wants to focus entirely on his personal life. “His focus is fully shifting toward life as a husband and, hopefully, a father, regardless of how this final season plays out. It’s a promise he made to both himself and his wife,” the source revealed.

Aaron Reportedly Wants Nothing To Do With Broadcasting

While Aaron Rodgers’ younger brother Jordan Rodgers built a successful career as an ESPN college football analyst, insiders insist Aaron has no plans to follow the same path.

The source claimed the star believes staying connected to football after retirement would make it harder for him to truly move on.

“His brother does commentary, but Aaron wants nothing to do with that. He doesn’t want the analyst’s life,” the insider shared.

According to the source, Aaron feels stepping away “cold turkey” is the only way he can fully embrace retirement.

“When he steps away, he has to do it cold turkey and not be involved anymore because he will miss it too much and will also take him away from his personal life,” they added.

Aaron’s desire to completely step away from sports doesn’t mean he plans to sit idle once football ends. The four-time MVP already co-founded AthleteAgent.com, a platform connecting businesses with athletes and sports teams for endorsement opportunities.

CEO Sean O’Brien believes football star could become even more involved behind the scenes after retirement.

“Publicly, he’s announced that he probably won’t be broadcasting and will lead more of a private life so my guess would be that he still helps his businesses behind-the-scenes,” O’Brien told the Daily Mail.

He added that Aaron would likely live more privately than a typical former NFL quarterback would.

Those who have worked closely with Aaron insist his business instincts are just as impressive as his football talent. O’Brien admitted he would love him to eventually take on a bigger leadership role inside the company.

“As CEO, I’d probably try to recruit him to take a more active role at a C-level position and be more involved just because he’ll have the time to do that,” he said.

“His insight is incredible having this 20-plus year career in the NFL at the highest level,” O’Brien added.

COO Ryan Rottman also praised Rodgers’ personality away from the field. “Not only is he one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met – very genuine, and also just one of the guys,” Rottman shared.

He described spending time with Aaron doing normal activities like bowling, bike riding, and fly fishing. “He’s a normal guy that just happens to be one of the best quarterbacks of all time,” he added.

Rottman also applauded Aaron’s intelligence and business knowledge, describing the quarterback as one of the smartest people he has met.

Aaron’s Wife Brittani Reportedly Supported His Final NFL Return

Sources say Aaron Rodgers’ decision to return for one last season was not driven primarily by money. The insider claimed Aaron still felt he had unfinished business on the field, and his wife Brittani fully supported the decision.

“His wife is on board with this decision. They both came to the conclusion that he will make this season his last,” the source insisted.

According to the insider, Aaron returned because he still believed he had something to give. “He wasn’t finished. He believes that the Steelers have a great chance to win,” the source explained.

Away from his career, Aaron’s marriage remains one of the most talked about topics in his life. He first revealed in June last year that he had secretly married “a couple of months” earlier, though he never publicly identified his wife.

Aaron later mentioned during a December 2024 appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he was dating someone named Brittani, describing her as a “private person.”

Since then, his wife has remained one of the NFL’s biggest mysteries, with even teammates and their partners reportedly calling her a “phantom.”

Aaron Rodgers Nearly Walked Away Before Mike McCarthy Arrived

Insiders say Aaron initially believed his career would end after the Steelers’ playoff loss to the Houston Texans and Mike Tomlin’s departure as head coach.

However, Pittsburgh’s hiring of Mike McCarthy, the coach who helped Aaron win a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers in 2011, reportedly changed everything.

“The addition of Mike McCarthy as coach really helped Aaron decide to give it one more shot,” the source told the Daily Mail.

According to the insider, Aaron strongly considered retirement and even monitored Tomlin’s next career move before making his final decision.

Ironically, Tomlin eventually moved into television, joining NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” coverage as a studio analyst. Still, Rodgers reportedly felt returning to Pittsburgh offered one final opportunity to end his career properly.

“Once everything fell into place, it became clear the Steelers truly wanted Rodgers, and that made him feel good and wanted,” the insider explained.
