New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is finding himself at the center of controversy after publicly introducing Donald Trump at a New York event, and not everyone in the locker room appears thrilled about it. The rookie quarterback raised eyebrows after taking the stage to welcome the president during a speech in New York, prompting backlash from some fans and even a public reaction from one of his own teammates. Now, the moment is sparking debate both inside and outside the Giants organization as the team prepares for a crucial new season.

Dart, who is 23 years old, made a surprise appearance at an event at Rockland Community College on Friday, where he was tasked with introducing Trump before the president addressed supporters.

The Giants quarterback addressed the crowd before welcoming Trump to the stage. “I’m grateful, I’m honored, I’m pleased to introduce the 45th and 47th President of the United States of America, President Donald J. Trump,” Dart said.

Trump later walked onstage to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” before greeting Dart with a hug. The president also had glowing praise for the quarterback, even joking about his appearance. “I’m looking at Jaxson… I’m looking at the legs there,” he said. “He’s this beautiful guy. He’s got legs like tree trunks. This is not a good thing for women.”

Trump also reportedly referred to Dart as a “future Hall of Famer.”

Giants Teammate Abdul Carter Publicly Called Out Dart

Not everyone appeared excited to see Dart publicly backing Trump. Giants linebacker Abdul Carter seemingly reacted to the moment on social media Saturday morning, publicly questioning his teammate’s appearance at the event. “Thought this sh-t was AI, what we doing man,” Carter posted on X.

The public criticism quickly sparked conversation online, with some fans applauding Carter for speaking up while others accused him of airing locker-room business publicly. The situation could create unwanted tension for first-year Giants head coach John Harbaugh, who is preparing for his debut season with the franchise.

Both Carter and Dart are expected to play major roles if the team hopes to turn things around.

Former Giants Kicker Lawrence Tynes Defended Dart

Following Carter’s viral post, former Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes jumped in to defend Dart. According to Tynes, political beliefs should stay separate from football locker-room dynamics.

“The locker room is a sacred place because it brings together everyone from all walks of life and beliefs for one common goal,” Tynes wrote. “Calling a teammate out publicly for his political views and to get attention is nasty work.”

The exchange only fueled more conversation among Giants fans already divided over the quarterback’s decision to appear alongside Trump.

Giants Fans Were Quick To React

Dart’s appearance alongside Trump reportedly did not sit well with some Giants supporters, especially given Trump’s history in New York politics. The president, a Queens native, failed to carry either New York or New Jersey during his three presidential campaigns, making backlash from local fans somewhat unsurprising.

“Bro just turned his whole f-ckin fan base against him,” one fan said. “Every Giants fan just turned on Dart. What a Dumb Person,” someone else added.

Others were even harsher in their criticism. “Jaxson Dart just let the world know how much of an idiot he is! So stupid!” one commenter wrote. “A new player I can hate on, f-ck yeah,” another added.

“Damn, I liked Jaxon’s game. Too bad I know his true character now. Welp, the Giants are cooked, because God doesn’t like ugly,” another fan claimed.

Jaxson Dart Has Mostly Stayed Quiet About Politics

Despite the controversy, Dart has largely remained quiet about political matters since being drafted by the Giants in 2025. However, the quarterback did previously speak out following the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk last September.

At the time, Dart reposted a message from Team Trump titled “Pray for Charlie Kirk” and added his own message, writing, “May God watch over him and his family!”

Now, with training camp approaching, Dart’s latest headline is creating buzz for reasons that have little to do with football.
