LaBeouf has reportedly been charged with three misdemeanor counts of simple battery tied to an alleged Mardi Gras bar brawl in New Orleans. According to local outlet WWL, the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office formally filed the charges this week, roughly three months after the actor’s February arrest.

LaBeouf was initially arrested in the early hours of February 17 on two misdemeanor battery charges and released on his own recognizance. However, things reportedly escalated after allegations surfaced claiming the actor allegedly used an anti-gay slur during the altercation. As a result, a judge later required LaBeouf to post a $100,000 bond, with an additional $5,000 bond tied to the second charge.

During the months following his arrest, LaBeouf also reportedly obtained permission to travel internationally. The actor was allowed to fly to Rome to attend his father, Jeffrey LaBeouf’s, baptism.

Later in February, LaBeouf spoke publicly for the first time about the incident during an interview with Andrew Callaghan on Channel 5.

Discussing the events of Fat Tuesday, the actor admitted he had been intoxicated and acknowledged his actions were wrong. “Big gay people are scary to me,” LaBeouf said. “When I’m standing by myself and three gay dudes are next to me, touching my leg, I get scared. I’m sorry. If that’s homophobic then I’m that.”

He later reflected on his mindset during the altercation. “I was drunk and then I felt infringed upon in terms of my proximity,” he said. But I wasn’t in my right mind, and so it’s on me.”

LaBeouf also addressed accusations that he allegedly used a slur during the encounter. “I said words not okay to say. I don’t want to hurt nobody’s feelings,” he added. “I’m wrong for what I did.”

Witnesses Claimed The Situation Turned Violent

According to eyewitness accounts, the altercation unfolded at R Bar in New Orleans’ French Quarter and allegedly became increasingly aggressive. Bystanders claimed bar staff attempted to remove LaBeouf from the venue after tensions escalated.

Witnesses alleged the actor punched one man multiple times with closed fists before later returning to the bar. Authorities claimed LaBeouf allegedly struck the same individual again and also punched another man in the nose. According to reports, fellow bar patrons physically restrained the actor while waiting for police to arrive.

In the wake of the New Orleans incident, LaBeouf didn’t shy away from taking accountability for his actions, though he also made it clear he does not believe rehab is the answer this time. Speaking candidly after the arrest, the actor admitted his conduct during the altercation crossed a line. “My behavior [was] bullsh-t. I gotta deal with that,” he said.

At the same time, LaBeouf revealed he is hesitant to return to rehab despite previous struggles with substance abuse. “Does that mean I gotta go to rehab again? I’m just not into it. I don’t think my answers are there. I just don’t … I genuinely don’t. If I genuinely did, I’d go.”

Instead, the actor suggested his behavior may stem from deeper personal struggles involving anger and ego rather than alcohol itself. “I don’t think I have a drinking problem,” he said. “I think I have a different problem, and I’m gonna address it … I think I have a small man complex. I think it’s something that has to do with anger and ego more than my drinking.”

Still, LaBeouf acknowledged he is actively trying to work through those issues. “That’s where I’m at now on my journey, and I’m trying to navigate it. I’ll figure it out,” he added.
