Kate Middleton and her daughter, Princess Charlotte, get to enjoy their love for tennis with special privileges at Wimbledon.
Charlotte has been a regular fixture at Wimbledon since 2024. She will, however, likely be devastated to learn that her favorite player, Carlos Alcaraz, will not be present this year due to an ongoing wrist injury.
The Waleses are known to be a sport-loving family who spare no expense to support their favorites, with Prince William previously flying all the way to Turkey to cheer English Premier League club Aston Villa to victory.
Inside Kate And Charlotte’s Special Wimbledon Privilege

Kate and Charlotte have been regular fixtures at Wimbledon over the past couple of years. However, one thing that appears to have remained under wraps is the ultra-exclusive perk they get to enjoy behind the scenes, one that even celebrities are usually denied.
During last year’s edition, the Princess of Wales reportedly told players that “as a family, we play a lot [of tennis],” while adding that she and Charlotte had been “filling in the leaderboard” during the matches, per the Express.
They also get to enjoy the full viewing experience from the Royal Box, where they can keep an eye on all the other courts on the grounds. The prestigious seats come with plenty of sweet treats and a delicious-looking tea, while each seat is reportedly fitted with its own TV, allowing guests to watch other matches as they unfold.
Princess Charlotte To Miss Her Tennis Favorite At Wimbledon
Kate and Charlotte are expected to make an appearance at this year’s Wimbledon, which begins on Monday, June 29. The 11-year-old has attended the tournament twice in the last two years, while her mom has made 26 appearances across various days since joining the royal family.
However, Charlotte may be left gutted this year as she will not get to see one of her favorite tennis players, Carlos Alcaraz, take to the court. The Spanish star took to X to reveal that he has been ruled out of both The Queen’s Club Championships and Wimbledon due to an injury he is currently nursing.
“My recovery is going well, and I feel much better, but unfortunately, I’m still not ready to be able to play, and that’s why I have to withdraw from the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon,” he said.
“They are two really special tournaments for me, and I’ll miss them a lot. We keep working to return as soon as possible!” the sports star added.
Kate And Charlotte Bond Over Tennis
Charlotte first met Alcaraz backstage at Wimbledon in 2023, then met him again the following year, and photos of their encounter quickly went viral. According to Hello! Magazine, Kate told the Spaniard that Charlotte had been “cheering you on,” adding that the family “watched a lot on telly… so it’s great to finally get to meet you.”
The official Wimbledon Instagram page also shared a photo of Charlotte and Alcaraz together, captioning it, “A handshake for the champion from HRH Princess Charlotte.”
Meanwhile, the future queen has always been open about her love for tennis, telling the BBC that Wimbledon has long been part of her life.
“I have watched Wimbledon, that was very much part of my growing up,” Kate recalled.
She added, “It’s such a quintessential part of the English summer, and I think it really inspires youngsters. It inspired me when I was younger to get involved in the game. It hasn’t changed either, I think that’s what’s so wonderful.”
Prince William Shares The Family’s Love For Sports

Kate and Charlotte are not the only members of the Wales family who are deeply engaged with sports and vocal about their love for the game.
William is a proud Aston Villa fan and has been seen visiting Villa Park on several occasions to watch the team play. He was also the guest of honor at the Emirates FA Cup Final on May 16, 2026, at Wembley Stadium.
As Patron of the Football Association, William carried out his traditional duties during the event and presented the winning trophy to the players.
He was also present in Istanbul earlier this week when Villa defeated German side Freiburg to lift the UEFA Europa League trophy, ending the club’s 30-year wait for a trophy.
William Shares A Beer With Aston Villa Players

According to the BBC, Villa defender Matty Cash said the Prince of Wales joined the players for a beer after the game as they celebrated their historic win.
“He was in there having a beer with us. He’s just delighted. He’s such a big supporter,” Cash said. “He’s always coming to the training ground, always at Villa Park. And he deserves moments like these, and hopefully he can let his hair down today.”
After the game, the future king took to social media to commend the lads for a job well done.
“Amazing night! Huge congratulations to all the players, team, staff, and everyone connected to the club! 44 years since the last taste of European silverware!” William wrote.
