Brittany Cartwright is swimming in a fortune of tax debts!

The reality TV star’s financial situation appears to be on a rocky edge as she allegedly has a hefty sum to settle in taxes. This comes after her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, was also tied to a mountain of debt due to unpaid taxes and mortgage.

Brittany Cartwright’s financial hurdles have been in the media’s eye, especially involving her estranged husband, who was battling addiction. At the time, the TV star revealed that she had to shoulder all the bills for their home and young son, Cruz.

Cartwright has her work cut out for her as she is working to clear up a tax issue with the authorities. The California tax authorities claim that she owes nearly half a million dollars in unpaid taxes.

The legal documents show that the TV personality made the California Franchise Tax Board’s semiannual “Top 500 Delinquencies” list.

This list tracks the state’s largest outstanding personal income tax debts over $100,000, and the TV star’s name reportedly appears on the list.

According to the docs, seen by TMZ, Cartwright allegedly owes a whopping $463,632.12; however, she claims that there are more to the details.

She alleges that the debt is tied to an old issue with her previous tax filings and is looking to have it cleared up as soon as possible.

Cartwright’s CPA, Christopher Fank, wrote a letter in an attempt to clear the air on the subject. He detailed in the letter that he has handled the reality TV star’s taxes for the past five years and can confirm that she has paid all taxes owed during that time.

The letter, reportedly, also provides clarity on where the mix-up may have stemmed from. It stated that her 2019 taxes mistakenly reported “phantom income and tax” under Cartwright’s name.

Fank also revealed that he has a hand on deck working directly with the California Franchise Tax Board to rectify the issue.

Cartwright’s CPA also alleged that the agency has agreed to place a hold on the account while the Kentucky native submits proof that she does not owe the disputed amount.

Last year, it was revealed that Cartwright was left with thousands of dollars in mortgage bills by Taylor.

Just over halfway through his 30-day rehab stint, the former lovers had a face-to-face meeting where the TV star revealed that one of her fears was to be left with an expensive mortgage bill.

At the time, Cartwright had already paid upfront for three months in a rental property, and Taylor had signed a lease on a condo, leaving his estranged wife potentially responsible for the mortgage on their family home.

“My biggest fear is he’s gonna try just to leave and stick me with that $14,000 a month mortgage, and all of everything is gonna be on my back,” she said on an episode of the hit show.

Bravo TV reported that Taylor had fallen behind on the mortgage payment for several months. Because both their names were on the mortgage, Cartwright could not get off the hook.

Taylor refused to continue paying because he did not want to continue living at the home, although he was responsible for covering the mortgage during their marriage.

Besides holding back on the payments for their Valley Village mortgage for months, Taylor also put his tax payments on hold for months.

Cartwright explained at the time that he thought the bills would go away. The bills piled up to about $100,000 and affected “The Valley” star’s personal bills.

“My mortgage used to be around 8,000 [dollars a month]. I pay 18,000 [dollars a month] now because of his taxes,” the mom of one explained on “The Valley After Show” last year.

In his defense, Taylor explained that the reason he hit pause on his taxes was that he “didn’t have the money to pay it, so [he] just kind of let it ride.”

Taylor also admitted that they had to remortgage their house due to his tax actions resulting in higher monthly payments; however, as reported by Bravo TV, he learned his lesson and settled the pending bills.

Elsewhere on the show, Taylor expressed his remorse for putting his estranged wife and young son through a difficult situation with the home and bills.

“Putting my son and putting Brittany in such an awkward place, as I’ll never forgive myself for that. And it was just an awful thing to do,”  the “Vanderpump Rules” star admitted.

Cartwright has previously expressed that she is ready to go above and beyond for Cruz, especially with his autism diagnosis.

She disclosed that she spent a couple of extra thousand dollars monthly on a home with a pool, as she “didn’t want to take Cruz away from a swimming pool because that is like his happy place.”

Taylor, who struggled with substance abuse since he was 23, decided to get clean because he wants to be a good example to Cruz.

He admitted that he drew inspiration to publicly admit his struggles with cocaine from a desire to have his son look back and see the change in his life.

As their divorce proceeds, the former lovebirds came to an agreement to cross off child support from each other.

They agreed to share custody and responsibility concerning their only son’s health, education, and well-being, but Cartwright holds ultimate decision-making power if they cannot reach an agreement.

The Blast also reported that there are strict restrictions concerning the Bravo veteran’s time with Cruz. Neither party is allowed to be under the influence of marijuana, alcohol, or other drugs while spending time with their now 5-year-old son.
