Elon Musk has the crowd on his side this time as he tears Christopher Nolan a new one.
The tech guru is making it known that he is not backing down when it comes to his criticism of Christopher Nolan’s decision to cast Lupita Nyong’o for a crucial role in “The Odyssey.”
Elon Musk’s core criticism of the upcoming $250 million adaptation film featured themes like race-swapping casting, contempt for Greek people, and a ploy for him to win awards.
Elon Musk Calls Christopher Nolan’s Casting Decision Award Chasing

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh hopped on X to slam Nolan for casting “12 Years A Slave” star as Helen of Troy, who was known as the most beautiful woman in Greek mythology. Nyong’o also plays a surprise second role as Helen’s sister, Clytemnestra, who married Agamemnon.
Walsh insisted that Nyong’o was wrong for that decision because Nolan was trying to avoid being called a racist if he gave the most beautiful woman’s role to a white woman.
Musk replied to Walsh that his observations were spot on, and Nolan changed the races because he was chasing the awards to fulfill the Oscars’ representation and inclusion standards when it comes to best picture eligibility.
As stated by Variety, the Oscars established in 2020 that a film must fulfill diversity criteria across casting, crew, apprenticeships, audience development, subject matter, leadership, and department heads.
The X Owner Gained Support For His Remarks

Musk’s reply got many positive nods from X users who justified his stance as very valid, insisting that he spoke the mind of the majority. This commenter declared:
“Of course he’s just saying what the majority of people think.. Jeez, get a f-cking clue already.. Oh, right.. Variety.. long ago taken over by lunatics who don’t align with most Americans. Just wait for your bullsh-t movies and views to take a nose dive. No one is going to watch this slop.”
Another X subscriber slammed Nolan for joining the bandwagon to replace some important cultural work with the people from other cultures.
Although Nolan is the commenter’s favorite director, they insisted that they would not spend their money to watch the production.
“Far be it from me to defend Musk, but he raises sound points, albeit like a toddler hammering a plastic peg, but Nolan has taken creative liberties at the expense of the story as it was written…Helen of Troy wasn’t Black,” this poster explained.
One more X user predicted that the movie would be bad because the casting decision was not well thought out. This commenter stated, “Elon might be onto something.
The Oscars have a very strict set of rules for award eligibility. The rules are incredibly offensive, but if you want a trophy, you gotta play the game.”
Elon Musk Doubles Down Slamming ‘Academy Awards Eligibility’

The Tesla CEO continued in his campaign against Oscar’s six-year-old rule with another pressing question that read, “Who specifically is the as-hole who added DEI lies to Academy Awards eligibility instead of it just being about making the best movie?”
Musk’s post attracted several responses from X users who condemned the act, piling on Devon Franklin. According to them, they allegedly led the Academy committee that wrote the rules requiring films to hit diversity quotas to qualify for Best Picture.
“Art should compete on excellence. The best movie should win because it moves people, tells the strongest story, and stands the test of time. When awards shift from craft to ideology, trust breaks first,” this commenter stated.
More upset commenters slammed the board of voters for ruining everybody, claiming that nothing hits like it used to.
Christopher Nolan Dismissed Concerns Over ‘The Odyssey‘ Casting

IB Times shared that the director broke his silence on the backlash that surrounded his choice to cast the “Sicko Mode” rapper in the production of “The Odyssey.”
He argued that Travis Scott’s casting brings a unique twist to the film as it portrays an ancient Greek bard because modern rap serves as the direct descendant of Homeric oral tradition. Scott was announced to join a lineup of talented actors like Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway.
Scott’s decision was criticized as a move to lure younger viewers to watch the three-hour Greek epic. Still, the director insisted that the concerns were a misunderstanding of the source material’s origins.
Nolan reiterated that in the Bronze Age, stories were not read from pages but performed through rhythm and vocal cadence as a means to keep these accounts alive.
Nolan continued that by infusing contemporary rhythm into the role of the storyteller, he would eliminate the archaic mentality associated with pieces and stories from that age.
The Director Hung His Boot On Making Superhero Movies

Nolan, who has amassed a large fanbase from showcasing his prowess as a superstar director for superhero flicks, shared in a recent interview that following the “Dark Knight” trilogy, he has shut the curtain on directing superhero flicks.
He hinged his reasons on a desire to explore other projects and themes different from the larger-than-life characters and gritty realism.
As shared by The Blast, Nolan’s comment comes after he made headlines for his unconventional approach to technology and communication.
Nolan, in his interview alongside “Oppenheimer” stars Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy, revealed that he does not carry a smartphone, stays away from emails, and prefers to write scripts on a computer that lacks internet access.
He emphasized that while he is not anti-technology, he finds it very distracting from being productive.
Will Elon Musk’s observation draw out a response from Christopher Nolan?
