Art met adrenaline on Thursday night at Wynn Las Vegas as artist and DJ Alec Monopoly drew a packed crowd to a private event at his EDEN Gallery. Fans filled the space wall-to-wall for an up-close look at his work and a chance to meet and take pictures with him.
The night doubled as a live experience, with the artist creating pieces in real time before stepping behind the decks for an impromptu DJ set that kept the energy high. Fresh off the gallery takeover, Alex is set to bring that same buzz to XS Nightclub tonight, trading canvas for the DJ booth once again.
Alec Monopoly Fills EDEN Gallery For Private Event Thursday Night
EDEN Gallery, located in Encore Las Vegas inside the Wynn, was where the fun was at on Thursday night. Filled wall-to-wall with fans who wanted to catch a glimpse of Alec’s famous work as well as a chance to speak with him, the gallery event was a hotspot inside the resort.
Alec walked the crowd taking pictures with anyone who asked, did some live drawing in front of a crowd, signed pieces, and even entertained with a DJ set.
EDEN is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. and offers a stunning variety of contemporary art from iconic collections. Many of Alec’s well-known pieces hang on the walls of the gallery and fans at Thursday night’s event were excited to talk selfies in front of some and photos of others.
Alec Monopoly Will Be DJing At XS Nightclub Friday Night
After packing the house at EDEN Gallery on Thursday, Alec is keeping the momentum and excitement going on Friday night with a high-energy set at XS Nightclub.
The artist-turned-DJ will deliver a crowd-pleasing mix that will get everyone up on the dance floor for the late-night party.
Alec’s late-night set will begin after Hugel’s 10:30 p.m. set. Tickets are still available.
Artistic Talent Began Early In Childhood
Alec began painting and drawing early in his life and just knew that it would be what he does as he gets older.
“My mom’s an artist, so she taught me to draw and paint when I was very young. I knew my whole life, you know, my teachers would tell my parents how gifted I was. And it was just something that was known,” he told The Blast during an exclusive chat back in April. “I was always in the advanced art classes and I just knew I was going to focus on my art my whole life.”
Alec began gaining notoriety through his Monopoly man paintings in the streets of New York City, and that’s only progressed and developed as the years went on. Art led him to another one of his passions – DJing.
Alec Monopoly’s First Vegas Residency At XS Nightclub
Alec shared that he was super excited to get a Vegas residency at XS and that his first show was “amazing.”
“It made sense because my gallery EDEN is right across from XS. I’ve had a relationship with XS for a number of years,” he told The Blast. “I had a collaboration where I would do paintings of the DJs while they’d be live DJing. I did portraits of Avicii, David Guetta, Diplo, Skrillex. So I had a relationship with Wynn for a while through the gallery and spending time at the club.”
His first show in the residency was at the end of March. He said it was “packed.” His next show is tonight, Friday, May 15, and then a third show is set for May 31.
“It was my first big show in Vegas and it’s a dream to play at The Wynn,” he said. “I think it’s one of the most high-end places and XS is number one, so I’m very happy with it.”
The DJ Is Excited To Play During EDC
While every show brings a high level of energy, Alec said he’s really excited to be playing during EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival), which is happening this weekend.
“Everybody’s in town. It’s a crowd of people that really appreciate music, you know, they’re there for the music,” he said. “It’s not just hotel guests there, so I am going to be playing a lot of my original music, some unreleased stuff. A little more underground style, because I’ve been playing in Mykonos and Ibiza for years now before this Vegas residency, and there, it’s a little more underground style of music.”
