The record producer, born Benjamin Joseph Levin, launched the “Friends Keep Secrets” show as a “non-podcast podcast” that offered an intimate look into his life and friendships.

Benny Blanco hosts the show with Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco, with his wife, Selena Gomez, making appearances. A recent episode captured what could have been a tragic story for the entertainer.

Benny Blanco Once Had A Knife Standoff During A False Burglary Incident

Blanco recalled a shocking memory on the podcast show, telling co-hosts Lil Dicky and Kristin that he almost stabbed a friend in a false burglary incident. He explained that he had been jolted awake by a weird noise in his home on the fateful day.

Instead of reaching for his phone to call the cops, Blanco decided to take matters into his own hands. He recalled making his way downstairs as silently as possible in the dark and then arming himself with a knife, ready to strike at the suspected burglar.

Blanco, per TMZ, noted that he was crouched low behind furniture and planning to stab upwards at the “intruder.” The suspected burglar, on the other hand, turned out to be his friend. The latter had also armed himself with a knife after hearing sounds of Blanco’s movements in the house.

No One Was Injured During The False Burglary Incident

Fortunately, Blanco and his friend realized who the other party was before their knife standoff became a tragedy. When Lil Dicky wondered why the record producer had gone for a knife rather than a gun, Blanco laughed off the notion.

According to the media personality, he was more likely to accidentally shoot himself if he owned a gun, making a knife the best self-defense tool. Blanco’s decision to face the burglar head-on might stem from his loved ones being threatened by intruders in the past.

Last November, PEOPLE reported that Blanco’s mother, Sandra Levin, had been the victim of a home invasion. The burglary incident occurred at her Studio City home in California around 9:15 p.m. Three men allegedly gained access to her residence by breaking the sliding glass door.

Benny Blanco’s Mother Encountered A Real Home Invasion

According to the report, Blanco’s mother heard the sound of the sliding glass door breaking and immediately ran upstairs. She sought refuge in her bathroom, locking the door behind her before dialing 911 for assistance.

The LAPD confirmed to the outlet that they received a call about the burglary, with the person hiding when the suspects invaded her home. The burglars reportedly ransacked the property and “fled once they discovered someone was home.”

The suspects were reported to be wearing dark clothing and masks when they entered the home, and they got away with unspecified property. As for Blanco’s mother, she was not harmed during the incident, but she allegedly told authorities that the burglars had kicked down the bathroom door.

Selena Gomez Was Once Stalked By A Homeless Man

Blanco’s mother wasn’t the only person he knew who faced home invasions, as a homeless man once stalked his famous wife. The incident occurred in 2014, over a decade before Blanco and Gomez tied the knot in September 2025.

According to the BBC, the homeless man trespassed into the singer’s home twice and was arrested in March for breaking into her guesthouse. He pleaded no contest in April to a misdemeanor trespass charge and spent two days in jail, but that wasn’t enough to stop him.

The man, identified as Che Thomas Cruz, reportedly jumped a fence at Gomez’s home hours after he was released and was rearrested. He was then ordered to spend six months in a residential treatment facility in California, followed by a year of psychological treatment.

The alleged stalker was also ordered to stay 200 yards (182 meters) away from Gomez and her home for the next 10 years. Besides dealing with obsessed fans, the “Only Murders In The Building” actress has also been speculated to be targeted by her ex-boyfriend’s wife, Hailey Bieber.

The Blast covered the drama in April 2025, reporting that fans did a side-by-side comparison of Hailey’s acceptance speech at the Daily Front Row’s 9th Annual Fashion Awards and Gomez’s past comments. In the past, Gomez noted she did not start her Rare Beauty brand just to have a brand.

Hailey echoed similar sentiments about her Rhode brand during her acceptance speech, causing many to speculate that she had copied Gomez’s past statements. A displeased fan even dubbed Hailey a “creepy stalker copycat,” with others echoing similar sentiments.
