Friend Of Nancy Guthrie Shares Her Concerns As The Case Enters Its 100th Day

Page Six spoke with one of Nancy’s good friends, Lauren Serpa, who said she’s been connected with Nancy for over 10 years. Speaking about the case, Serpa admitted she was concerned that Nancy’s case would soon become a story of the past.
“Even in Tucson where it happened, it’s starting to fizzle out, and I don’t want that to happen,” she said. “It’s been 100 days, and people are starting not to forget, but not to think about it as much.”
Although the Arizona community is still holding out hope that Nancy will be located, Serpa said people have been shifting their focus toward other things.
“People are starting to move on basically. That’s what happens when it doesn’t affect their lives,” she said. “So that’s why I’m trying to keep it in the forefront as much as possible.”
Nancy Guthrie’s Friend Encourages People To Stay Vigilant As The Search For Her Continues

Nancy has been missing since the night of January 31, 2026, when she was dropped off at her Tucson home following a night out with her family.
Family members later discovered Nancy was missing the next morning after the 84-year-old failed to show up for church.
A day later, Sheriff Chris Nanos said Nancy’s disappearance was a kidnapping, sparking even more concern.
Serpa told Page Six that she wants people to stay vigilant while the search for her friend continues.
“It’s really important that it’s in the back of their head all the time in case they do see something or they hear somebody say something, you know, out of their eyesight,” she said. “Then they can report it. But, you know, if they’re not thinking about it, then they wouldn’t even think about anything that somebody would say.”
Serpa gave tips for those who may be interested in helping, such as paying “attention to their surroundings” and listening closely “to what people are saying [who] are standing behind you.”
“Those are the kind of things that are going to make the difference in this case, I think,” she added.
Elizabeth Smart Says Nancy Guthrie Could Still Be Alive Four Months Later

Safety activist and ABC commentator Elizabeth Smart also spoke about Nancy’s case, sharing a positive message for those who were open to hearing it.
“Absolutely. She could absolutely still be alive,” Smart told Erin Burnett, according to PEOPLE.
Smart, who was abducted when she was 14 years old in Salt Lake City, Utah, explained that several missing persons have been located alive months or years after they went missing.
“We’re talking years and years, so she could absolutely still be alive,” Smart said. “Of course there is the alternative, but until we know, we have to keep looking.”
