Kodak Black has law enforcement bracelets on his wrists yet again.
The rapper, born Bill Kahan Kapri, was taken into custody on alleged drug trafficking charges. His legal team is sure he will walk free from the charges, although spending time behind bars is nothing new for the entertainer.
Kodak Black previously spent two months behind bars for charges of drug possession after authorities reportedly found oxycodone pills in his car. Besides his infamous drug-related cases, which have brought him into the spotlight in recent years, he has had several legal brawls with his baby mamas.
Kodak Black Returns To Jail Just Over A Year After His Release

Black was arrested on Wednesday, May 6, in Florida for allegedly trafficking drugs. The rapper has been booked into the Orange County Corrections Department for Trafficking “METHYLE.-METH (MDMA)” according to official records.
MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy or molly, is a synthetic psychoactive drug with stimulant and mild hallucinogenic properties caused by increased dopamine levels. TMZ uploaded a photo of his mugshot, where he is pictured in what appears to be a red hoodie, wearing a serious look with his wild dreadlocks sprouting in all directions.
It is no news that the entertainer went down a similar path a little over a year ago. He also reportedly has a long history of run-ins with the authorities for assault, weapons possession, battery, drug possession, and trespassing.
The Rapper’s Legal Team Is Ready To Fight The Charges

Black’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, has weighed in on the matter, revealing more details about his recent arrest. Cohn disclosed that the artist’s arrest was a coordinated surrender related to a November 2025 case in which a police officer searched a vehicle.
At the time, Black was in the vehicle with another passenger. Cohen continued, explaining that upon searching, the authorities found a bag containing several items, including a bottle of prescription cough syrup.
Black’s attorney expressed that he is ready to fight the trafficking charges as they have a “weak legal basis,” and it is a common theme as pertains to most of the 28-year-olds’ arrests. “We look forward to yet another fruitful resolution to another case that should have never been filed,” Cohen positively remarked.
The Entertainer Walked Out Of Jail Two Years Ago

Black was declared a free man two months after serving time in a facility in Miami. He was sentenced to spend time in jail after he violated the terms of his probation for a previous drug possession arrest. The “Roll In Peace” hitmaker was arrested in 2022 on charges of trafficking oxycodone and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
The arrest initially did not have him thrown behind bars, as he was freed on bond with a condition to undergo regular drug testing. The musician did not live up to the terms and was ordered to spend thirty days in drug rehab. This decision stemmed for a missed drug test and testing positive for fentanyl.
In June 2023, authorities issued a warrant for his arrest after he was a no-show for a drug test. Two weeks before his release from jail, Judge Barbara Duffy of the Broward County Circuit in South Florida dismissed the charges. As shared by The Blast, her decision stemmed from the fact that prosecutors could not disprove that Black had a legit oxycodone prescription filled by a pharmacy at the time he was taken into custody.
Bradford Cohen Was The Brains Behind Black’s Previous Case Dismissal

After the father of five was charged with one count of trafficking oxycodone and one count of possession of a controlled substance, Cohen appeared in court to prove the rapper’s innocence. The lawyer slammed the law enforcers in the Broward Sheriff’s Office, claiming that the case was a “coordinated takedown” and accused them of going out to get his client.
He argued that the drug possession case wasted the court’s valuable time and stated that the suspected oxycodone pills were nothing but regular painkillers. A sample of the drugs was tested and found to be Tylenol, but the tested drugs were reportedly destroyed in the process. Since the proof of Black’s innocence was lost, Cohen argued that the officials allegedly did not provide a report about the actual details of the pills.
The Blast reported that the rapper’s lawyer pushed for the case to be dismissed by further stating that the FBI agent was biased against his client. He roped the prosecutors in by stressing that they attempted to withhold valuable evidence, such as the body cam footage in the case, due to their bias against Black.
Kodak Black’s Legal Drama With His Baby Mama

The rapper has built his bloodline with five children from four different women. He welcomed his first son, King, in March 2015 with Jammiah “Maya” Broomfield and his first daughter, Queen Yuri, with Maranda Johnson. Between 2022 and 2024, he became a father to three more children, including a second child with Johnson named Prince.
Johnson dragged the “Calling My Spirit” singer to court, demanding extra child support for the two kids she shares with Black. Cohen alleged that the singer has been fulfilling his financial responsibilities towards all his children, while Johnson argued that she deserves more because she has two children for the rapper.
At one of his kids’ birthday parties, a fight broke out between Johnson and the other baby mamas. The brawl escalated, and the authorities were called to intervene. However, as reported by The Blast, the situation had calmed down before the law enforcement officers arrived at the scene.
By the time the authorities arrived, Black was nowhere to be found at the scene, seemingly due to his pending instruction not to engage or associate with any form of violence throughout his probationary period.
Will Kodak Black escape this new charge in Florida?
