Jeffrey Epstein‘s lawyer has set the record straight on the wave of accusations that have continued to swirl around the late sex offender since his arrest and death in 2019.

In a new interview, Alan Dershowitz claimed that the billionaire financier was not a pedophile, as has been widely alleged, and also denied that he had any ties to intelligence agencies such as Mossad or the CIA.

However, he did reveal that Jeffrey Epstein had damaging information on one individual, though he declined to disclose the person’s identity.

Speaking in a chat with the New York Post’s Miranda Devine, Dershowitz seemingly defended Epstein against claims that he was a pedophile.

The attorney, who represented the late sex offender in his 2008 plea deal for soliciting a prostitute, said his former client does not fit the clinical profile of what a pedophile is described as medically.

“I have no information about any pedophiles in the Epstein circle. A pedophile, medically, is somebody who is interested in prepubescent people. Prepubescent people, 10, 11, 12,” the lawyer said.

He continued, “That was not his modus operandi. He was interested in 16-year-olds, 17-, 18-year-olds. That’s a terrible thing.”

Not only did Dershowitz deny the pedophilia accusations made against Epstein, but he also went on to claim that the allegations of sex trafficking were likely far from true.

According to the lawyer, he believed that those who claimed to be Epstein’s victims were often simply receiving payment for services such as massages, and that they returned not because they were forced to do so.

“What happened is he made it known to young people in Palm Beach, if you come and give [Epstein] a massage, you get $250, and many of them came back over and over and over again,” he said.

Amid the revelations about Epstein in recent months, speculation has swirled about him having strong ties to agencies like the CIA and FBI, which some believe may have allowed him to evade accountability for his alleged crimes for so long.

Such theories have also been fueled by past reports claiming that alleged ties to the CIA in particular contributed to him receiving a relatively lenient plea deal when he was investigated and arrested in 2006.

However, Dershowitz denies these claims of agency ties, saying he knows “that isn’t the case.”

He shared that he had personally asked Epstein about such connections in an effort to better understand his situation and help get a better deal, but that the sex offender said he had “no connection.”

Dershowitz noted that he did not take Epstein’s word for it and made efforts to confer with Mossad sources, who also rejected the claims. Although he did not confirm whether he was able to reach CIA sources to do something similar, he stated that he does not believe “there’s any truth to any CIA connection” either.

The Attorney Revealed Jeffrey Epstein Had Dirt On ‘Only One Person’

One more claim about Epstein denied by Dershowitz was the idea that he had dirt on high-profile people.

The claim has circulated since Epstein died by suicide in prison and partly led to an investigation by the Department of Justice, which ultimately did not uncover any blackmail list allegedly held by Epstein.

“I don’t think he was blackmailing people, though I think he was interested in collecting information about people, and maybe he would have used it to defend himself, but I don’t think he ever affirmatively blackmailed people,” Dershowitz told the news outlet.

Still, he admitted that although blackmailing was not Epstein’s thing, the late sex offender did have damaging information on “only one person.”

Dershowitz, however, did not reveal the identity of the person, although he said the individual was not a political figure.

For Dershowitz, his comments about Epstein were simply a way of setting the record straight, and not an expression of solidarity.

“What he did was terrible, but it’s not nearly as bad as the way it’s been portrayed,” he said about his former client.

He also claimed that he regrets defending Epstein, especially now that he is fully aware of the double life he lived.

“I wish I had never met him. He was a terrible, terrible evil man, but even in that case, many of his crimes are exaggerated,” he also noted.
