As time passes, Priscilla Presley is hit with the realization that her grandchildren are growing up.

The former wife of the late iconic singer Elvis Presley got candid about the extent to which her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley‘s, death has affected her bond with her grandkids. This comes after the grandmother of four was involved in a months-long battle over the family’s Graceland estate following Lisa’s death in 2023.

Priscilla Presley has been spotted with her grandkids in public a few times in recent years. Despite their differences, it is no secret that she is a very doting grandmother.

Priscilla did not hold back, telling the public that she doesn’t see her granddaughters as often as before their mother’s sudden death in 2023. She disclosed this while speaking during a speaking event at the Westgate in Las Vegas on May 2.

The 80-year-old actress who shared Lisa with her late ex-husband, Elvis, shared that the shift in the family’s bond is not only due to her daughter’s demise but in large part because the grandkids have grown to develop other interests.

“It’s kind of separated us in a way,” she said before recalling that they used to get together and have family meals, but now Lisa’s youngest daughters, 17-year-old twins Harper and Finley Lockwood, have “got their boyfriends” and “do their thing.”

The “Naked Gun” actress, however, noted that the family ties have not been severed, saying that she and her granddaughters are still “close” despite feeling “separated” from them after their mother’s passing three years ago.

Priscilla welcomed a son, Navarone Garibaldi, after her marriage to Elvis ended with ex-boyfriend Marco Garibaldi. who was by his mom’s side while she spoke about the state of their family since his half-sister’s death

Page Six reports that Nevarone interrupted the actress, chiming in his thoughts that the family had been separated six years ago when his only nephew, Benjamin Keough, tragically died by suicide in 2020.

“I think actually losing Ben was the first thing that separated us,” he said before explaining, “When you would think that should be something that would bring everyone together, that somehow separated us further because everyone grieves in different ways.”

“Everybody put blame on somebody in different ways, and just felt different ways about it. Somehow, that separated us further,” he continued before noting that the wake of his sister’s death brought the family closer together and created an avenue for them to let “go of those feelings.”

In case you didn’t know, Lisa was married twice during her lifetime and had four children; two from each union. The late mom of four welcomed Riley Keough and Benjamin with her ex-husband, Danny Keough. Later, she married Michael Lockwood, with whom she welcomed twin girls, Harper and Finley, in 2008.

Priscilla had a surreal moment being in the hospital room with Lisa when the twins were born. At the time. She told news outlets that having the terrific feeling of becoming a grandmother again was “a dream come true” and “a real delight.”

When Harper and Finley were 8 years old, Lisa filed for divorce from Lockwood, starting a contentious custody battle, and during that time, the twins lived with their grandma. At the same time, there were swirling whispers that the girls were in protective custody as the divorce process lingered.

PEOPLE reported that the “Elvis and Me” star cleared the air with a Facebook post with photos of Harper and Finley having a swell time in her swimming pool.  She noted that owing to the brewing confusion about the twins’ living conditions, she decided to set the record straight.

“Let me put this to rest … the girls have not been in foster care and never will be. The girls have been with me and will be until all this is sorted out,” Priscilla wrote. She also shared that she enjoyed spending time and having conversations with them.

Priscilla and her eldest grandchild, Keough, went head-to-head over to their iconic Graceland family estate, which Elvis left to Lisa after his death. After the late “Lights Out” singer’s demise three years ago, it was revealed that she had amended her will, leaving the estate to Keough.

The famous grandmother did not want to let go without a fight and filed a petition disputing the amendment of Lisa’s will. In June 2023, about six months after Lisa’s passing, the court ruled, upholding the late mom of four’s amended will, naming her eldest daughter as the sole trustee of the Graceland Estate and the sub-trust reserved for the twins.

Priscilla did not walk away empty; she was given $1 million and an additional $400,000 to cover the legal fees. The Blast shared that Priscilla was also appointed the trustee for the sub-trust designated for her son, Nevarone. Both parties confirmed that the legal battle did not drive a wedge in their relationship as they ended things on “good terms.”

Last year, the iconic singer’s ex-wife made headlines with a legal drama between her former business partners, Brigitte Kruse and Kevin Fialko. The case started when Priscilla accused the pair of financial elder abuse, a claim they fired back at with several lawsuits.

Kruse and Fialko alleged that the famous actress was involved in fraudulent activities and that she played a role in her daughter’s death. They also claimed breach of contract and stated that she hid the true value of her multi-million dollar jewelry collection and memorabilia, originally worth $25 million, from the IRS.

The Blast reported that the TV star’s former business partners claimed in court documents that Priscilla submitted “Form 433-A to the IRS in an attempt to negotiate down her tax obligations, where she falsely represented to the IRS on May 4, 2023, that she only owned jewelry worth $6,000.”

When she allegedly discovered their plans to out her to the federal tax authorities, Kruse and Fialko claimed that Priscilla “orchestrated their immediate termination.” The actress’s legal team denied the allegations, stating that the accusers were making claims without merit to damage her reputation.
