WNBA star Angel Reese continues to dominate both on and off the court. Most recently, the Atlanta Dream forward made an appearance at the 2026 Met Gala, turning heads in a striking pink gown with billowing sleeves. While speaking with the media on the red carpet, Reese, 23, opened up about how she approaches each day with unmatched confidence and also sheds a little light on her new life in Georgia.

Angel Reese Says She Felt Like ‘That Girl’ During The 2026 Met Gala

It’s no secret that Reese has built a name for herself off the basketball court, working with major brands like Victoria’s Secret and Vogue. Her success and marketability aren’t a surprise to those who have been paying attention to the 6’3″ baller since winning a national championship in 2023.

On May 4, Reese made her third appearance at the Met Gala, rocking a custom pink off-the-shoulder Altuzarra dress, according to E! News. While on the red carpet, Reese also spoke with Essence about the night’s theme: art and confidence.

“I’m really confident within myself,” she said. “Nobody can tell me that I’m not that girl. I wake up every morning because I’m blessed, I’m grateful. I’m just so thankful for this life, and being able to have this opportunity.”

Angel Reese Opens Up About Her New Team In Atlanta

During her red carpet interview, Reese also touched on her new home in Atlanta following her stunning trade to the Atlanta Dream from the Chicago Sky on April 6, 2026.

“Atlanta is giving Black girl magic,” she said. “It’s giving culture, it’s giving lemon pepper wings, it’s giving Atlanta Dream, it’s giving everything, so I’m really happy to be in Atlanta.”

And speaking of the Peach State, Reese’s appearance at the Met Gala came just 24 hours after she played against the Washington Mystics, during which she recorded 10 points and four rebounds.

Prior to that, Reese broke her silence about joining a new team after two years in Chicago, calling her ATL teammates “a breath of fresh air.”

“It lowkey makes me emotional because I haven’t had this and I’m really grateful and I’m really looking forward to the start,” she said, according to The Blast.

Angel Reese Highlights Her Love For Fashion

Reese’s appearance at the Met Gala isn’t much of a surprise, as the athlete previously admitted to having a love of fashion.

“It’s always been both: basketball and fashion,” she told Vogue. “But I was a fashion girlie from young too. Like—let me find this picture my mom sent.”

Reese continued, “I was always in my mom’s closet, putting on her stuff. I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do.”

But that doesn’t mean Reese isn’t bringing her fashion sense to the hardwood. Through her partnership with Reebok, the league’s leading rebounder has released several iterations of her signature shoe, the Angel Reese 1, as well as clothing.

During a conversation with former First Lady Michelle Obama, Reese explained why she chose to work with Reebok rather than other major brands that reached out to her.

“I want to go where I’m prioritized, and to be prioritized as a Black woman, and helping a brand come back and regenerate where it was, that was really important to me,” she said. “They didn’t have a woman who was the face of their brand, and Shaq told me, ‘You could be the face of Reebok.’”

Reese’s Podcast Is For Her To Tell Her Story

Besides Reebok, Reese is also the face of her own podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” which has featured major celebrities, from rappers to influencers to actors.

The show was born in 2024 during her rookie season with the Chicago Sky and has since become Reese’s digital diary, where she speaks directly to her fans.

“It’s important to have your own narrative and be able to take control of that,” she said. “I wanted to have my own name and be able to break my own news on my podcast.”

Continuing, Reese said that her show is equally about her guests, saying it’s “important [for them] to be able to come on and talk about their upcoming things, be unapologetic, speak their truth, and just have fun,” the LSU alum said.
