Oops! Britney Spears is officially in trouble!

The singer was pulled over by the cops last month in Ventura County when she was spotted swerving between lanes before the authorities spotted her and acted on it.

Britney Spears recently headed into rehab weeks after she was arrested on the highway following advice from people on her team that she must find a way to address her health.

The award-winning musician is facing criminal charges after getting arrested earlier in March, with prosecutors charging her with one count of misdemeanor DUI.

As stated by the Ventura County District Attorney’s office, prosecutors plan to extend a “wet reckless” offer, which would allow the defendant to plead guilty to reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs.

This type of plea is typically reserved for individuals with no prior DUI record, a relatively low blood alcohol level, and no involvement in an accident or injuries.

It also requires that the defendant demonstrate initiative in addressing underlying issues through “rehabilitation or a drug and alcohol program.” According to TMZ, the Ventura County District Attorney’s office confirmed that Spears will receive this offer at her arraignment scheduled for Monday, May 4, 2026.

When the arrest happened last month, Spears’ manager Cade Hudson described it as an unfortunate and inexcusable incident, promising that it would mark the start of long-overdue change in her life.

As stated by The Blast, her family and friends see her arrest as a very delicate situation, as everyone in her life is fixated on seeing her healthy and stable, yet they know these things cannot be forced. An insider added that most people in her circle saw the arrest coming, and when it happened, they were relieved to know no one was hurt.

Another inside source stated that since her split from Sam Asghari, she has also been spending more time alone, which has led to her making some questionable choices.

“She has this tendency to think she’s kind of invincible, especially since she’s been free from the conservatorship. For a while, she felt like there were no real consequences, but lately, it’s started to catch up with her,” the source shared.

While the actress did not have a drinking problem, according to her confession in her memoir “The Woman In Me,” she did admit that her favorite drug was Adderall. A source close to the musician confirmed that she has been privately struggling with drug issues for nearly three years now.

The matter reached a high point of concern after she spent her last two birthdays in Mexico, where she had unrestricted access to all kinds of drugs with no one to enforce a boundary or limit.

Another insider claimed that the artist took trips to the pharmacy there for some over-the-counter medications, including Adderall, because it is more accessible than in the United States.

Despite her woes, the media personality is not losing the admiration and support of her two boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Spears reportedly listens to her sons the most, alongside several contacts with her mother, Lynne Spears, and her brother Bryan.

A legal expert who is a managing partner at Sweet James and a former prosecutor with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Bobby Taghavi, weighed in on the case.

As noted by The Blast, Taghavi explained that Spears’ decision to get treatment without a court order would improve the outcome of her case by a significant percentage. The legal expert continued that voluntarily seeking treatment proves to the court that she is taking her situation seriously.

Taghavi continued that judges often respond better to proactive accountability than to last-minute damage control. However, as far as jail term is involved, a judge might order the singer to go in for counseling, or even get into educational programs to prevent any relapse.

The singer got esteem support from fans across the world at the peak of her conservatorship program, which demanded her immediate release from the hold. The “Free Britney” movement greatly contributed to her release, but that compassion may have died down in light of her current erratic behavior.

A former supporter of the movement expressed her regret for publicly lending her voice for the vote to remove Spears from the guardianship program. Giving her thoughts on Spears’ DUI arrest, the advocate named Jessica shared that the outcome of the movement did more harm than good, and in hindsight, she needed the conservatorship, maybe just not handled by her family members.

The California Highway Patrol took Spears in around 9:30 pm when she was arrested in March and booked by the sheriff’s department around 3 am. Spears was released from custody three hours later after she was taken to the hospital for bloodwork to determine her blood alcohol content.
