Instead of correcting them, the team chose to lean into the imperfections, using them to heighten the tension and unpredictability of the moment.

According to Natasha Newman-Thomas, the now-viral wardrobe moments weren’t just accepted, they were fully embraced as part of the character’s identity.
“Sydney kept having nip slips,” the costume designer told InStyle. “And I was like, ‘Okay, we’re not going to tape her in. We’re going to embrace it.’” Instead of trying to prevent the mishaps, the team created custom pasties using the same hand-beaded fabric as the gown, turning what could have been a flaw into a deliberate design choice.
The goal was to reflect Cassie’s emotional state in the scene. One standout moment toward the end of the episode drew particular attention, with Newman-Thomas explaining that both the dress and the “malfunctions” were meant to mirror “Cassie’s psychology.”
She added that the vision was to make the dress feel both stunning and slightly off-kilter. “We really wanted her to feel special. And I wanted to make the most beautiful, sexy wedding dress with just the slightest touch of tackiness because it’s Cassie.”
