A judge has narrowed a long-running lawsuit against Steven Tyler, leaving only one allegation from a case filed by Julia Misley in 2022.
Most claims tied to alleged incidents across multiple states were dismissed on jurisdictional grounds, with the court citing statute of limitations issues.
Steven Tyler’s legal team has described the ruling as a major win, as the case now proceeds to trial on a single alleged 1974 incident in California scheduled for August.
Court Limits Lawsuit Against Steven Tyler To One Remaining Claim In Major Win For The Singer

The judge overseeing Tyler’s case has significantly reduced a lawsuit against the rocker.
Julia Misley (formerly Holcomb), who filed the suit in California in 2022, had accused Tyler of sexual misconduct linked to an alleged relationship in the 1970s when she was 16.
Her complaint included claims spanning multiple states, but the court ruled that only one alleged incident in California could proceed. Claims tied to other locations, including Massachusetts and Oregon, were dismissed on jurisdictional grounds.
According to TMZ, the rocker’s legal team described the ruling as a “massive win for Steven Tyler,” saying nearly all aspects of the case have been thrown out and only “one night fifty-plus years ago out of a three-year relationship” is allowed for trial.
That remaining claim centers on an alleged 1974 incident at a hotel and public hot tub during a California visit.
Misley’s complaint had also referenced a relationship that reportedly continued for years, including periods where the two lived together and were even engaged.
The case is now scheduled to move forward on the remaining allegation in August.
Legal Team For Steven Tyler Says Alleged Relationship Was Consensual As Within Laws At The Time

Tyler’s legal team has not disputed certain background details but describes the relationship as consensual and romantic, stating it involved an adult in his mid-twenties and a partner “between the ages of 16 and 19.”
They also argue it was lawful under the age-of-consent laws in effect at the time.
In a separate ruling, the judge noted that while the conduct described may have been legally permissible in Massachusetts, where the age of consent is 16, the case could not proceed because it was filed decades after the events in question.
The court pointed out that the lawsuit “was filed more than 35 years after the alleged acts and more than 35 years after she turned 18,” well beyond the state’s statute of limitations, which requires filing within seven years.
Steven Tyler’s Love Life Was Recently Rocked By Split Rumors

Amid the legal proceedings, Tyler and his longtime partner Aimee Preston were also hit with split rumors in December, with reports suggesting the couple may have quietly separated after more than a decade together.
Initial claims pointed to a possible breakup, but sources close to the couple later dismissed the speculation, saying they remain together.
Tyler, 77, and Preston, 38, first connected after she began working as his personal assistant in 2012, with their relationship becoming public in 2014.
The Couple Have Turned Heads During Their Outings Together

They made their first major appearance as a couple at a Hollywood event in 2016, where they turned heads and set tongues wagging due to their age gap.
Ever since, Tyler and Preston have been seen together at various public and philanthropic engagements, including the Jam for Janie Grammy Awards viewing party tied to Tyler’s charity work supporting children affected by trauma.
Preston is also younger than Tyler’s daughter Liv Tyler, whom he shares with Bebe Buell. The Aerosmith frontman has children from previous relationships, including Mia Tyler, and was previously married to Cynthia Foxe and Teresa Barrick.
Steven Tyler’s Past Relationships And Family Life

Before his relationship with Preston, Tyler’s dating history included several notable partnerships. In the 1970s, during Aerosmith’s early rise, he was involved with model Bebe Buell, a relationship that later ended.
Buell went on to give birth to Liv Tyler, whom Steven Tyler learned was his biological daughter years later; she was raised by Buell and musician Todd Rundgren.
Tyler married actress Cyrinda Foxe in 1978, and the couple welcomed their daughter Mia the same year. Their marriage ended in 1987, and Tyler later attended Foxe’s funeral in 2002 following her death from brain cancer.
The “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” singer then married fashion designer Teresa Barrick in 1988. They had two children together, Chelsea and Taj, before separating after more than a decade of marriage, with their divorce finalized in the mid-2000s.
