Jimmy Kimmel likely will not be facing any punishment from his ABC bosses over his comments about Melania Trump.

The comedian, during an episode of his show, said the First Lady had the glow of an “expectant widow,” a remark that prompted a public callout from the former model and her husband, President Donald Trump.

Now, reports claim ABC is “sticking by” Jimmy Kimmel and will not be taking action, unlike what occurred when the comedian faced controversy over a remark about the late Charlie Kirk.

Jimmy Kimmel’s sharp-edged commentary on his eponymous show has frequently drawn controversy, and he recently found himself at the center of another uproar that sparked calls for his firing from the First Lady, the president, and online critics.

For now, the showrunners at ABC have made no public comment to address the situation, but sources in the know have claimed they want to look the other way.

One insider in particular told Page Six that the network “is sticking by” the comedian and doesn’t “plan to suspend him, fire him or cancel the show.”

What’s more, all of the attention around Kimmel’s earlier comments is reportedly now old news to them, and they are more focused on moving on with the status quo.

“It’s back to taping per usual. They’re moving on,” the source further revealed to the outlet.

Kimmel drew backlash after making a morbid joke about Melania during an “alternative” White House Correspondents’ Dinner on last Thursday’s show.

At the time, he said she had a “glow like an expectant widow,” a remark that later took on a different tone when, two days later, a gunman opened fire at the Washington Hilton, where the actual WHCD was taking place.

Taking to Instagram on the Monday after the WHCD shooting incident, Melania blasted Kimmel in a lengthy rant that has since garnered 25 million views.

“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy — his words are corrosive and deepen the political sickness within America,” the first lady wrote on the social media platform.

In her scathing statement, Melania branded Kimmel a “coward” and said he should not be platformed to spread “hate” in the manner she claims he currently does.

She also called for his dismissal, urging ABC to take a firm stance and remove him rather than shield him as they have done in the past.

“Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him,” the mother of one noted. “Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community?”

Melania’s call for Kimmel’s dismissal was also echoed by her husband in a statement on his Truth Social platform, where he described Kimmel’s commentary as a “despicable call to violence.”

In response to Melania’s comments, the comedian made a defiant statement: “…I agree that hateful and violent rhetoric is something we should reject. I do. And I think a great place to start to dial that back would be to have a conversation with your husband about it.”

Last year, Kimmel was suspended over comments he made on his show about conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer, as well as supporters of Donald Trump, following the right-wing influencer’s assassination.

At the time, it appeared he might ultimately be removed from his eponymous show, with even the FCC chair, Brendan Carr, publicly getting involved.

ABC affiliates, such as Sinclair, also joined in the boycott of Kimmel, opting not to air any episodes of his show unless he apologized for his comments and donated to Charlie Kirk’s family and his Turning Point USA organization.

However, within days, the suspension was lifted, and Kimmel’s program resumed as normal despite many continuing to call for the comedian’s dismissal. The comedian also didn’t make any donations.

On his first night back on air, Kimmel delivered a lengthy monologue in which he seemed to walk back his earlier remarks, though he stopped short of issuing a direct apology.

“It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man,” Kimmel said, per the New York Post. “Nor was it my intention to blame any specific group for the actions,” he continued.

He added, “It was obviously a deeply disturbed individual. That was really the opposite of the point I was trying to make … for those who think I did point a finger, I get why you’re upset.”
