The tragic deaths related to veteran actors continue, with Hollywood legend Peter Falk‘s daughter joining the list after reportedly dying by suicide at 60.

The late “Columbo” star’s adopted daughter, Jacqueline Falk, reportedly died earlier this week in her Los Angeles home.

The tragic suicide news of Peter Falk’s daughter comes a few months after Martin Short and Tommy Lee Jones lost their respective daughters.

Peter Falk’s Daughter Died By Suicide In Her Los Angeles Home

According to new reports, Peter’s daughter took her own life on Monday, April 27. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Jacqueline had hung herself in her Los Angeles home, but it was unclear if she left a suicide note.

The deceased, per TMZ, was one of the two adopted daughters of Peter and Alyce Mayo. The legendary actor tied the knot with his first wife in 1960, and they divorced in 1976. The former couple’s second adopted daughter is named Catherine.

As for Jacqueline, she was 60 when she tragically passed. Her father, Peter, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in the 2000s and eventually passed away on June 23, 2011. He remains immortalized by his role as Lieutenant Columbo on the long-running TV series “Columbo.”

Martin Short’s Daughter Died From A Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

Two months before Jacqueline’s tragic passing, The Blast reported in February that another death had rocked Hollywood. Martin Short, a beloved actor who rose to fame for his roles in sketch comedy, lost his daughter, Katherine Elizabeth, to suicide.

The TV personality’s oldest child reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred in her Hollywood Hills home on Monday, February 23, 2026. Katherine was adopted alongside two other children during Martin’s marriage to Nancy Dolman.

Martin previously confessed in a 2012 interview that his three children struggled to cope with their adopted mother’s absence following her passing in 2010. Nancy died following a long-term battle with ovarian cancer.

The ‘Only Murders In The Building’ Star’s Daughter Changed Her Name

Following Katherine’s passing, more details about her life began to emerge, particularly her reasons for avoiding the spotlight. The Blast reported that she had filed a petition to change her name from “Katherine Elizabeth Short” to “Katherine Elizabeth Hartley” in 2012.

Katherine explained in her petition that she wanted to drop her famous father’s last name to forge a path of her own as a psychiatric social worker. “I am concerned about potential harassment from future patients resulting from my association with my father,” her statement read.

The name change petition resurfaced after Katherine’s friend, Rande Levine, opened up about her hidden mental health struggles. The latter claimed Martin’s daughter would often sign up for a rehabilitation program whenever she felt overwhelmed, but would tell no one but her closest confidants.

Tommy Lee Jones’ Daughter Died From An Accidental Overdose

Before Katherine’s tragic passing, actor Tommy Lee Jones had mourned the loss of his daughter, Victoria Jones. The Blast covered the story, reporting that the “Men in Black” star’s ward was found unresponsive at San Francisco’s Fairmont Hotel in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

A month later, her cause of death was determined to be accidental overdose by the San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Victoria was confirmed to have died from the “toxic effects of cocaine,” after ringing in the New Year with friends at the hotel.

Tommy had been aware of his daughter’s substance abuse struggles years before her passing. In 2023, he tried to protect Victoria by seeking a temporary conservatorship in Marin County Probate Court. However, he eventually terminated the request later that year.

Peter Falk’s Daughter Led A Troubled Life Before Her Suicide

Victoria’s substance abuse problems continued in 2025 when she faced multiple encounters with the law. In April 2025, she was arrested for multiple offenses, such as driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

Her crimes also included resisting arrest after Napa Valley authorities caught her. The arrest report noted that officers had found a plastic bag containing a white powder, believed to be cocaine, in her pocket. However, Victoria pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Tommy’s daughter faced another arrest in June 2025 following a domestic violence incident at Napa’s Carneros Resort and Spa. She also faced allegations of elder abuse, which she denied.
