The actress revealed to a Los Angeles court on April 24 that her divorce process from Sethi is settled, and everyone would be moving on from the process. The settlement comes over a year after she beelined it to court last February to pull the plug on the union.

Gummer explained in her divorce filing that the marriage fell apart due to irreconcilable differences and shared joint legal and physical custody of their son, Peter, and daughter, Mary, including spousal support.

The actress also ticked the box to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to her former partner. Gummer affirmed that she and her estranged husband are beyond determined to forge ahead with their lives, putting the marriage behind them. The Hollywood legend and her estranged husband, Don Gummer, are very much private with their family life, which began after they said “I Do” in 1978. As shared by PEOPLE, Don and his wife welcomed their eldest child, Henry Wolfe Gummer, in 1979 in New York, and he has kept a very low profile among his siblings.

Henry dropped out of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and focused on music, and has made exploits in various movies like “Julie and Julia” and “Ricki and the Flash.” Mamie Gummer came after Henry as the second child in 1983 and broke her tooth on movie sets, appearing alongside her mother in “Heartburn” in 1986 at just 20 months old.

She got her first Broadway role in “Mr. Marmalade” in her early 20s and then got her next major movie role in 2006 “The Hoax” alongside Richard Gere, followed by 2007 drama “Evening” once more with her mother.

Streep and her sculptor ex celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in September 2023 despite being separated for six years before the anniversary. As shared by The Blast, Streep and her estranged husband revealed that despite their separation, they still greatly care for each other, but have decided to do it separately.

Streep revealed in 2008 that she learned how to keep her family private from Robert Redford when her kids were babies. She recalled Redford telling her that her kids were not props, and that impressed her to consciously protect her family.

She opened up about raising her family and how demanding it can get, even more than acting. In her words: “Mothering. Definitely. Acting, that’s praise, money, fulfillment. Mothering, they don’t even say, ‘Thank you.’ They don’t even clear the table unless you say. I can’t really call acting work, since it’s secretly so fun. Even the difficult things; it’s satisfying to do the difficult things well.”

Henry, who is the actress’s first son, previously discussed how life feels as a famous son to a popular actress, noting that while it feels great, it also has its drawbacks. He noted that he constantly has to deal with the fact that he has a very famous and talented mother, which often causes him to worry that his work may get overshadowed.

In his words, “Sometimes I worry that my story isn’t good enough. Sure, my mom is part of the story, and I don’t get pissed when people ask me about her, but I wish I had something that could eclipse that as far as compelling storylines.”

He detailed that he has gotten to the point where he has to accept and live with the reality that her mother’s fame will always come up in spaces around him. Henry admitted that the recognition helps him in his career, but it also hurts him because everyone thinks he does not work hard enough to earn it.
