Mandy Moore‘s childbirth experience was complicated by a certain doctor.

The actress is recalling some morbid details about her labor and childbirth experience, where a doctor made her extremely uncomfortable with his lack of empathy and attention to her situation.

Mandy Moore has previously spoken about what it means to be pregnant in her 40s and how many stereotypes often accompany people in that age group.

The media personality opened up on a recent episode of her “That Was Us” podcast about ending up in the hospital for a delivery, but everything was so last-minute that her entire medical team had to switch. “I wanted to have midwife care at the hospital … and the one midwife that had privileges at Cedars [Sinai in Los Angeles] had to work in conjunction with a doctor, and the doctor I did not like,” Moore explained. 

She continued that while she was in the middle of pushing with the help of her midwife, the doctor involved remained aloof. The actress stated on the podcast that she caught him scrolling on his phone and began to wonder if he had a problem with her. 

Things continued until a lobster truck arrived outside the hospital, and the doctor told them he would get some since her labor was taking such a long time. Moore and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, welcomed their lovely baby girl, Louise, in 2024, alongside their sons Gus and Ozzie, born in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

Moore’s podcast co-hosts joked that she should have given the doctor a more vocal reaction as soon as she noticed him acting that way. The actress confessed that she also felt bad watching the doctor’s reaction, and it seemed like she was wasting his time for no reason at all.

However, she got a sense of clarity from her third journey to the labor room, which was that she was done having children for now and for later. She wrote on Instagram in January that it was a bittersweet situation for her because while she is immensely grateful for her beautiful family, she still feels sadness that she will not get pregnant again. 

The actress has also surrounded herself with an amazing group of moms while raising her three adorable children. Moore often spent time with Hilary Duff, Ashley Tisdale, and other famous faces in their circle, though that alliance was rocked by a scathing article accusing Tisdale of toxicity.

Last year, The Blast noted that Moore and Kylie Kelce had a heart-to-heart moment on the former’s podcast “Not Gonna Lie” about the realities of being pregnant at 40. Moore, who already had her daughter at the time, stated that while she was pregnant at 40, she discovered that most pregnant women in her age bracket actually did well with their condition. 

The actress emphasized that the problem actually lies with the healthcare system, which treats women who get pregnant at an older age as a rare case. She recalled them using words like “anomaly,” “complicated,” or “high risk” to define their situation. 

The actress stressed that all the mental gymnastics were unnecessary, as most go on to have successful pregnancies and births. Moore continued that it is an outdated practice that is less about the patients and more about the system that handles women’s bodies with little to no care.

In early 2025, as the destructive wildfires spread through Los Angeles, sending people out of their homes and displacing families, the actress popped up with pleas on behalf of her brother-in-law and sister. 

As stated by The Blast, Moore explained that she decided to use her platform to solicit funding because the couple was about to welcome their first child when the fire attacked their home, leading to several losses. 

However, the media personality’s calls for financial help drew several critics who urged her to be sensitive to the situation and to address her finances. Moore added that the donations will go to the appropriate channel, and her platform adds credibility to the story. 

She continued that anyone who had reservations about her story should refrain from donating, and that her post was not intended to force anyone. The actress also revealed that a family friend suggested crowdfunding for her sister.

The media personality appeared on a podcast with Cameron Rogers, where she discussed the state of some of her friendships since having kids. According to her, most of it has been her getting closer to people with kids around the same age as hers. In her words, “I have friends who have kids that are older, let’s say. And I have found that the people I am closest with in my life right now are people who are kind of at the same chapter of their lives as parents.”

Speaking about friendships that have failed to advance with her, Moore explained that she has had to mourn them, especially as they have changed a lot.  However, this does not mean she does not admire or love them; it’s just that not all friendships will last forever.

Moore was also remotely involved in the drama that ensued after Tisdale released her January 1st essay. She was spotted praising Hillary Duff’s husband in his Instagram comment section right after he mocked the Disney alum. Mathew Koma described Tisdale as self-obsessed and tone-deaf, with sources stating that Duff and Moore felt blindsided and hurt by Tisdale’s confession because they had all been very supportive of her.
