Rob Reiner‘s other son, Jack Reiner, is not over his death yet!

The late actor’s son is breaking his silence on how life has been faring for him since losing not one, but both of his parents on the same day to stab wounds.

Rob Reiner and Michelle Reiner were found dead last December by their daughter Romy Reiner, who visited them in the afternoon around 3:00 pm after they had been unavailable all day.

Jake poured out his heart in a new Substack post titled “Mom and Dad: The center of my life,” admitting that it still feels weird for him to come to terms with the sudden loss of his parents. He continued that every day he woke up, “hoping it was all just a nightmare,” and he would set his eyes on his loved ones once again.

He confessed that he felt robbed of so many moments that should have been made special if he had spent them with his parents. In his words, “I was robbed of so many things that day. My parents won’t be at my wedding, they won’t get to hold their future grandchild, and they won’t get to see me have the successful career I’m still seeking.”

Jake emphasized that the incident has left him feeling mostly heartbroken and angry, especially knowing how scared his folks must have been in such a vulnerable moment. He continued that the case feels even more difficult to comprehend because his brother is right in the middle of it. Jake added that he would continue to honor his dear parents, but some details of the case involving his brother, who stabbed them, would be kept private.

The late actor’s son assured his readers that his sister, Romy, who discovered the lifeless bodies of their parents, would share her story when she deems fit. He then proceeded to share his fondest memories with his mother and family, including how his mother planned all their family trips so meticulously.

Jake added that he grew up watching his father become his hero through their shared love and admiration for Dodgers baseball. Jake noted that these days, it would be hard to step foot inside Dodger Stadium without getting flushed with memories of his father’s presence and how much love they had for the team. 

He revealed how influential his dad was in his transition from broadcasting to acting and how he wished they could have worked on a project together before they got killed. Jake ended his emotional post with a request that the public continue to show love and compassion to his family as they continue to grieve their parents four months after their passing.

Rob Reiner’s Family Planned To Skip Nick Reiner’s Court Trial

In February, The Blast shared that Nick was charged with two counts of murder following the death of Rob and Michele in December. He was subsequently arraigned in February, about two months after he was picked up.

However, by the time his trial starts, insiders stated that he would most likely not be getting the support of his family, who are still suffering from the emotional toll of his grievous actions towards the actor and his wife.

Nick’s siblings, Jake and Romy, have been most affected by Rob and Michele’s shocking passing, and aside from their planned absence at the trial, they have also shared their desire to never be in the same space with Nick. In the words of the source, “This has devastated the entire family. They’re grieving in their own way. Protecting their mental health has to come first.”

Nick Reiner Was Reportedly Diagnosed With Schizophrenia 

The 32-year-old was incarcerated at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility and placed on suicide watch, although he was later removed and given the chance to receive visits from family. The Blast stated that despite this, jail has been pretty lonely for Nick because none of his family members have shown up.

Insiders noted that his family was still struggling to process the allegations against him, especially involving a murder of such magnitude. They also reportedly feel it is too soon to visit him, and that thought may linger for a really long time. Nick is also currently battling mental health issues, as he was diagnosed with schizophrenia a few months back and was undergoing treatment for the condition.

He was administered a new set of prescription medications, which caused erratic behavior in the days leading up to the murder of Rob and Michele. Nick is also reportedly aware of the allegation that he killed his parents, but remains convinced that he is in prison due to a conspiracy against him.

Rob Reiner And Nick Reiner Were Spotted Arguing Shortly Before The Actor’s Death

The actor and his son attended Conan O’Brien’s holiday party the night before he was found dead with stabbing wounds at his home alongside Michele. At the event, eyewitnesses reportedly saw them engaging in a not-so-friendly exchange, which ended with both parties storming out of the venue.

Attendees at the event could reportedly hear them practically screaming at each other, and O’Brien prevented other people around from calling the authorities. After Rob and Michele exited the party, Nick reportedly headed for another location, and nothing was heard about the actor until news of his death was reported 12 hours after he got into a screaming match with Nick at the party.

On the legal angle of things, if Nick is found guilty of murdering his parents at the trial, he could face the death penalty or get life imprisonment, as explained by Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman.
