Dianna Russini Named Her Son Michael Months After Being Spotted Kissing Mike Vrabel In NYC
The story between Vrabel and Russini only gets messier. Hours after photos show the former NYT reporter kissing Vrabel inside a NYC bar, social media users turned into full-blown detectives, scouring through accounts and public records to learn whatever they could about the pair.
One detail has the internet spiraling: the name of Russini’s firstborn son, Michael, who was born in August 2021. While Michael is a common name, users are zeroing in on the fact that Russini and Vrabel’s relationship clearly goes back years, predating her child’s birth with husband Kevin Goldschmidt.
A resurfaced post from Russini hasn’t helped quiet the noise. “Keep looking at my almost 4 day old son, Michael, while trying to figure out who are the best Michaels to ever play and coach in the NFL?” she wrote on August 11, 2021. For fans connecting the dots, the timing is impossible to ignore.

Dianna Russini And Mike Vrabel Spark Rumors After Being Spotted At An Arizona Resort

Weeks before this, Russini and Vrabel made headlines after photos of them hugging and lounging by the pool of an Arizona resort went viral.
At the time, Vrabel denied the allegations, calling them “laughable.” However, his tone shifted days later when Russini announced her resignation from the New York Times.
“When the Page Six item first appeared, The Athletic supported me unequivocally, expressed confidence in my work and pride in my journalism. For that I am grateful. In the days that followed, unfortunately, commentators in various media have engaged in self-feeding speculation that is simply unmoored from the facts,” a portion of Russini’s resignation letter read.
In Vrabel’s statement in late April 2026, the Ohio State alum admitted to having “some difficult conversations” with people in his circle, but said they’ve been “positive and productive.”
“In order to be successful on and off the field, you have to make good decisions. That includes me. That starts with me. We never want our actions to negatively affect the team, never want to be the cause of distraction,” he said.
Vrabel Is Headed To Counseling

The news of Vrabel and Russini’s complicated history comes just before the 2026 NFL Draft begins tonight on ESPN. According to the outlet, Vrabel will actually miss the third day of the draft to attend counseling.
“As I said the other day, I promised my family, this organization and this team that I was going to give them the best version of me that I can possibly give them. In order to do so, I have committed to seeking counseling, starting this weekend,” he said. “This is something that I have given a lot of thought to and is something I would advise a player to do if I was counseling them.”
Continuing, Vrabel said he wants to lead by example, and that starts with having touch conversations. “This is not an easy thing for me to admit, but it is one that I know will make me a better person. I appreciate the support that everyone has given me and promise a stronger resolve as a result,” he said.
