Not on Bill Nye‘s watch will sweeping cuts to NASA funding go unchallenged under Donald Trump‘s administration.

The “Bill Nye the Science Guy” host has long criticized the president’s leadership style, especially when it comes to policies he believes undermine scientific progress.

Now, with a fresh proposal to slash funding for NASA, Nye is sounding the alarm once again. Trump has also recently received criticism from other figures like George Clooney, Maren Morris, and Morgan Freeman.

Bill Nye Warns Donald Trump’s Budget Cuts Could ‘End’ NASA

In an interview with NBC News on Monday, Nye made his stance clear, condemning the proposed 23% budget reduction to the nation’s largest independent civil space and research agency.

He pointed to the progress made in the recent Artemis II lunar mission and warned that such achievements could be jeopardized by the cuts.

Highlighting the contradiction, Nye remarked that while the country pushes forward in space exploration, “somebody wants to sort of, how do you say, end NASA. It’s a strange time.”

According to the 70-year-old, the move is “a huge mistake” given that the country has built a reputation on the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

The TV personality described the institution as “the best brand the U.S. has,” thanks to its worldwide recognition, before stressing its importance.

“The word science is in the Constitution. That’s what keeps the U.S. ahead,” Nye said, per Entertainment Weekly. “You cannot be a leader in space without being a leader in science. It’s just a mistake.”

Adding to Nye’s frustration with the government was the fact that Congress had already rejected a similar proposal back in January. He argued that the new version was even more poorly conceived, describing it as “much lazier” in its construction.

This is not the first time Nye has publicly challenged the president. Late last year, he lent his voice to push back against the World leader as millions marched out in protest.

As The Blast reported back then, Nye took the stage at Capitol Hill, standing before thousands as he condemned the actions of the number one citizen of the White House. The educator noted that Democracy was at risk of being destroyed through Trump’s behavior over the years.

He suggested that multiple people within the administration are working together to undermine the long-standing ideas of fairness, citizens’ rights, and governance. He called the situation “a slow-motion erosion of democracy,” saying the country was possibly confronting its end.

George Clooney Wants Donald Trump To Focus On The Pressing Issues

Nye isn’t the only public figure speaking out against Trump. George Clooney recently criticized Trump, accusing him of committing war crimes when he threatened to clear out a country in the Middle East.

Trump, in turn, dismissed Clooney with personal jabs, mocking his acting skills. However, the “Ocean’s Eleven” actor fired back at him, emphasizing that the seriousness of current events demands substance not insults.

“Families are losing their loved ones. Children have been incinerated,” Clooney pointed out, per The Blast. “The world’s economy is on a knife-edge. This is a time for vigorous debate at the highest levels. Not for infantile name-calling.”

Maren Morris Shows No Sympathy for Donald Trump Supporters

While Clooney slammed Trump, Maren Morris directed her frustration toward his supporters.

As The Blast previously reported, the country singer said she has no sympathy for those who voted for Trump in the last election.

“I don’t have forgiveness for the triple Trumpers or any of the Trumpers,” Morris said in a video on her TikTok. “You did vote for this. He is a dementia-ridden, diaper-clad, cornball ex-TV host. You voted for this, and you got bamboozled.”

Morgan Freeman Questioned Trump’s Return To Office

Another high-profile voice, Morgan Freeman, also weighed in on the government, raising concerns about how the 79-year-old leader returned to office despite legal challenges.

Speaking on “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell,” Freeman criticized the state of leadership in the country and questioned how a convicted felon could assume the role of commander-in-chief.

According to The Blast, his remarks referenced Trump’s 2024 New York hush-money trial, where he was found guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

Freeman expressed disbelief that Trump assumed office despite the ruling, calling it nonsensical. He then urged citizens to vote during the next elections.
