Kim Kardashian is completely disregarding her accuser’s plea for leniency!
The beauty mogul is pressing on with her pursuit to get Ivan Cantu to offset all the legal fees accrued when he sued her for uploading his picture in error on her social media page.
Kim Kardashian’s consciousness for preserving and pursuing the law was awakened in 2017 when she advocated for the release of a 64-year-old great-grandmother, Alice Johnson.
Kim Kardashian Gives Her Reason For Legal Fee Request

The mother of four replied to Ivan’s claims that he would go bankrupt if he paid the $128,000 legal fee Kim was demanding after he dragged her to court. Kim is now claiming that Ivan’s lawsuit had been meritless from the start and was filed to silence her when it comes to speaking on matters of criminal justice reform.
“He undoubtedly thought he could force a payout based on her celebrity and wealth. But his gambit failed, and now he refuses to accept the consequences of his actions,” the reality star’s legal rep explained. The actress continued that Ivan also did not present a single valid argument for him not to have to pay the legal bill, even if he claimed he could not afford the money due to his bigger financial commitments.
As noted by TMZ, Kim added that the money set to be paid by Ivan would not be a “windfall,” but would be a worthy financial solace for the trouble of dealing with Ivan’s tacky lawsuit, which holds no water.
Ivan Cantu Failed To Convince Judge That ‘The Kardashian’ Star’s Error Wrecked Him

The New York-based project manager petitioned the court that Kim caused him great emotional distress when she uploaded his picture in 2024 in place of Ivan “Abner” Cantu, a Texas inmate facing execution.
As noted by The Blast, a judge ruled in the case that Kim’s advocacy was done with the best of intentions and falls under constitutionally protected free speech. Furthermore, the judge noted that Ivan failed to prove that the post truly caused any evident damage to him, whether mentally, emotionally, or financially.
Kim had shared Ivan’s picture as part of her plea for the state to stay his execution, and upon discovering that it was the wrong picture, the reality star immediately deleted it, and the admission of a mistake was backed up by her attorney. Unfortunately, Ivan was executed on February 28, 2024, despite Kim’s efforts and the public attention that surrounded the development.
Kim Kardashian Advocated For Better Welfare For Inmates In 2025

The Hulu star was on her toes and front-line during the Pacific Palisades fire, soliciting for improved wages and salaries for the brave inmates who took charge during the disaster, saving lives and properties.
Kim showed she meant business by using her huge platform on Instagram to call out Governor Newsom on taking a proactive step to review the wages and invest more in the development of incarcerated persons. The reality star wondered why those inmates who worked under harsh weather conditions earned under $1 per hour, compared to the grave impact of the crisis, which rendered several people homeless.
Nearly 1000 inmates showed up to keep the raging fire in check, although it burned over 40,000 acres and killed 16 people. The former wardrobe stylist also teamed up with Senator Cory Booker in March to further advance the cause of incarcerated firefighters earning minimum wage through amendments to the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The SKIMS Founder Produced A Documentary On The Criminal Reform System

Three years after Kim planted the seed of getting people out of jail, she teamed up with Oxygen to executive produce a two-hour-long documentary about the United States’ criminal reform system. The film “Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project” focused on her advocacy efforts as she visits prisons and consults with lawyers to develop strategies to free inmates.
As noted by PEOPLE, individuals like Dawn Jackson, Alexis Martin, Momolu Stewart, and David Sheppard were all identified by her team as those who have been unfairly sentenced. With the documentary, the actress hoped to expose a more comprehensive understanding of mandatory sentencing and how mass incarceration causes long-term, damaging problems.
The projects also emphasized the importance of educational programs and rehabilitation efforts to help them better assimilate into society. According to the mother-of-four, she wants to help elevate the cases to a national level to effect change via an honest depiction of her learning about the system and helping bring tangible results to justice reform.
Kim Kardashian Joined The #FreeGunna Campaign Train In 2022

Three years after Kim contacted the White House over rapper ASAP ROCKY’s hostage situation in Sweden, she showed up again on X to join the multitude requesting that Gunna be let go. Kim’s tweet read: “#FreeGunna,” adding the emojis saying “Free P,” which is a reference to Gunna’s hit song, “Pushin P.”
The Blast noted the reality star has, since 2017, helped over 15 women gain their freedom from prison and reunite with their families. Kim, her lawyer, Brittney K.Barnett, and their legal team have also helped to run and fund several big campaigns to help prisoners by commuting their sentences and restoring their freedom and life.
The team funded the 90 Days of Freedom Campaign, which was created after Trump signed the First Step Act, banning the harsh treatment meted out to pregnant women and women in labor in prison.
