Christina Applegate has spent ample time recently with health care providers.

The Hollywood star has been battling multiple sclerosis since receiving her diagnosis in 2021. Living with the neurodegenerative disease has affected different areas of her life, including her career, as she has shared over the years.

For the past few weeks, Applegate has been under the care of health service providers. It has been revealed that she is currently hospitalized in Los Angeles and has been admitted since last month. The actual reason behind the actress’s hospitalization remains unclear, but it seems to be over the top, as she has been in the hospital since late March.

The mom of one’s health challenges is no news as she has been very vocal about her struggles since her first multiple diagnosis, which she received in June 2021. However, no connection between her disease and the current hospitalization has been established.

Applegate’s representative did not comment on her health status, telling TMZ, “I have no comment whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are. She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast.”

The news about Applegate’s hospitalization comes shortly after it was announced that her podcast would cease its run briefly.

On March 31, Jamie-Lynn Sigler made an announcement to that effect. Sigler, who co-hosts the “MeSsy” podcast with the Hollywood veteran, also struggles with the disease, living with relapsing MS for more than twenty years. At the time, Sigler announced that the show would go on a brief hiatus as she and Applegate were on book tours. The actress published her memoir “You With the Sad Eyes” last month, where she got candid about different aspects of her life.

She detailed her daily struggles with the chronic condition, sharing that on some days, she found simple tasks such as getting out of bed to be difficult. “When I wake up, I often can’t get my arm to move far enough to grab the cup of water by my bed or my phone from its charger,” the TV star wrote. She also revealed that MS affects her immune system greatly, making her prone to infections, and as a result, she has become a regular face in the emergency room.

US Weekly shared that on a January episode of her “MeSsy” podcast, Applegate got emotional as she spoke about a flare-up she suffered at the time. She told Sigler that she feared that MS might be “taking” her. Nearly four years ago, the actress also detailed some symptoms she experienced and ignored before her official diagnosis. She shares that while she was on set for Netflix’s “Dead to Me,” her foot and toes got numb to the point where she lost her balance and could not walk.

On another episode of her podcast, aired in August last year, Applegate discussed the effects her illness has had on her only child, Sadie. She disclosed that it was tough for Sadie to see her like that, as she only knew her mom to be healthy and active.

Seeing her mother, whom she always viewed as unbreakable, in a vulnerable state left the teenager broken and caused even more pain to the award-winning actress. The Blast reported that Applegate acknowledged that her daughter has been a pillar of support for her physically and emotionally. She noted that Sadie would often hold her arm whenever they were out and also helped her with her cane.

The “Jesse” star also noted that she missed the able-bodied person she was before she got sick, but she tries to push through the pain daily for her daughter. During an appearance on Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk Off-Camera” podcast, the actress recalled getting into a heated word exchange with Sadie, whose words pierced through her heart when she said, “I miss who you were before you got sick.”

In her recently released memoir, Applegate opened up about a deep personal experience she had as a child, which she had never shared before.

She recalled the traumatic experiences, highlighting the long-term effects they had on her life as she grew into adulthood. The Hollywood star remarked that digging deep into her past to document those memories she kept private throughout the years was an emotional roller-coaster.

“To be honest, it’s actually opened up so many wounds,” the mom of one revealed. As shared by The Blast, Applegate penned that she was molested by a female babysitter when she was five years old. She detailed that she understood that it was shameful and wrong, but felt scared. The “Married… with Children” star noted that the experience left her feeling uncomfortable with physical touch all her life.

The actress also detailed a phase of her life where her home was toxic. As a young child living with her mom, the TV personality was exposed to several vices like domestic violence, drugs, and more. Through telling her story, Applegate hopes that she serves as a source of inspiration to other people.

With the realization that we cannot escape the inevitable, Applegate shared that she has started putting things in place in preparation for her death. The award-winning actress revealed that living with MS has changed her outlook on life while filling her with the reality that her end draws near daily.

The mom of one said that she thinks about death every day, and she is terrified by the thought of leaving her daughter when she passes. “I’m really afraid of it because of her, I can’t even talk about, like, I don’t know what her life’s going to be like, and you don’t know when it’s going to be – could be, like, anytime,” Applegate shared on a previous podcast.

According to The Blast, the “Jesse” star disclosed that she has purchased three burial plots in a “pretty” place for her family. She said that purchasing the plots was a way of easing her family’s burden in the future after she dies. Applegate further detailed that she would love a tree to be planted there so that when people come to visit her graveside, they wouldn’t be scorched by the sun.

Get well soon, Christina Applegate!
