Kevin Federline Breaks Silence On Britney Spears’ Decision To Head To Rehab

On Monday, April 13, Kevin Federline addressed reports made over the weekend that his ex-wife had headed to rehab following her DUI arrest. In a statement made to TMZ through his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline said that he was “happy” that she was getting the help that she needed.
“Kevin is aware of the reports that she has checked into rehab and that if she needs help, he is happy that she is getting help and that the decision appears to be one that she made and not one imposed upon her by others if it was,” he said. “The key is that whatever the recommended treatment plan is that she follows it and completes it.”
Britney’s Rep Said That She Was Going To Comply With The Law

Her rep issued a statement shortly after she was released from police custody, calling her arrest “an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.”
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life,” they continued. “Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time. Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”
Kevin Federline Also Spoke Out Following Her Arrest

A few days after her arrest made headlines, Federline issued another statement to TMZ through his attorney, saying that he “hopes for the best” for the “Lucky” singer.
“If help is necessary, he hopes that she will neither resist it or those who are attempting to work with her,” he said, adding, “The concern is whether this is just a one-off or a one more.”
Kevin Federline Released A Memoir In October 2025

Following the success of her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” Federline released his own memoir titled “You Thought You Knew.” It was released in October 2025, approximately two years after her own memoir hit bookshelves.
“Money’s not the root of this thing,” he told Us Weekly when responding to criticism of the memoir’s release. “I feel like, if she has the right to tell her story, why don’t I?”
However, Spears’ team released their own statement, condemning her ex-husband for continuing to profit off of her career.
“With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly, it comes after child support has ended with Kevin,” Spears’ rep told the publication at the time. “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”
His Memoir Was Not A ‘Catalyst’ For Her Arrest

About a week after her arrest, an insider told Us Weekly that although his memoir did upset her, it was not a “catalyst” for her arrest.
“Kevin’s book wasn’t the catalyst for this,” the source shared. “It did upset her deeply and definitely didn’t help matters, but her issues predate the book.”
In his memoir, he claimed that the “Gimme More” singer called her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake the night of their 2004 wedding. He also alleged that the Princess of Pop used cocaine when she was still breastfeeding their two sons, among other startling allegations.
Kevin Federline Alleged He’s Concerned For His Ex-Wife

Following the end of her approximately 13-year conservatorship, Federline expressed concern for his ex-wife.
“This situation with Britney feels like it’s racing toward something irreversible,” he wrote. “It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the eleventh hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”
