KK Arnold is stepping into the fashion conversation in a major way, teaming up with JCPenney for its new “Inside Lane” campaign, an initiative aimed at reshaping how fans view style in women’s sports. The campaign brings together a powerhouse lineup of athletes, including Audi Crooks, Gabriela Jaquez, Arnold, Stefanie Dolson, and Jackie Young, all of whom embody the idea that confidence and personal style aren’t tied to a designer price tag.

For Arnold, the decision to partner with JCPenney felt natural, especially as women’s sports continue to gain momentum. “I’m just super excited,” she told The Blast exclusively. “Especially with how much growth we’re seeing on the women’s side, I feel like JCPenney is really a part of that.”

She emphasized that the brand aligns with her personal approach to fashion, one rooted in individuality. “Just the way you can express yourself with all the different types of clothing they offer,” she continued. “I want to be part of that direction.”

As tunnel fits become a defining part of athlete culture, Arnold believes this campaign sends a clear message: style isn’t about luxury labels.

“It definitely does,” she said when asked if the campaign proves designer brands aren’t necessary. “I feel like everyone’s style is different, and JCPenney is one of those brands that really lets you express yourself and go in any direction you want.”

From “baggy clothes” to “tight clothes,” Arnold made it clear that versatility is key to building a personal look.

While tunnel fashion may feel like a newer phenomenon to fans, Arnold says the concept has always existed, just under a different spotlight. “I feel like for me, it’s always been a statement… showing up, looking good, playing great,” she explained.

Now, with more attention on women’s basketball, athletes are embracing fashion as another form of storytelling. “I feel like now everyone is really leaning into their own sense of fashion,” she continued. “And they’re able to show and express themselves more closely.”

No Pressure, Just Authenticity

Despite the growing attention, Arnold doesn’t feel pressured to deliver a standout look every time she steps into the tunnel. “Not necessarily,” she said. “I feel like I express myself in so many different ways.”

Whether she’s dressed up or rocking a more relaxed vibe, Arnold embraces the full spectrum of style. “I can dress up, but I can also show up in a baggy sweatsuit, and that can look just as good,” she told The Blast.

Unlike many in her generation, Arnold says her fashion choices aren’t dictated by social media trends. “It’s just based off all of me. How I feel, and how I want to express myself,” she shared.

She did, however, point to one style inspiration: Teyana Taylor. “A big style inspiration for me is Teyana Taylor, especially her oversized, baggy look.”

Arnold is also fully aware she’s part of a larger movement as women’s college basketball continues its surge in popularity. “It feels super good,” she said of being in the middle of the sport’s rise. “Just kind of being one of those people that the younger generation looks up to.”

While she believes progress has been made, she knows there’s still more ahead. “I definitely do, and I feel like there’s way more to come,” she said. “But I feel like we’re going in the right direction.”

At the heart of it all, Arnold hopes her platform inspires confidence in the next generation. “Just be yourself,” she said. “There’s no limit… just express yourself how you want to express yourself.”

Looking back, Arnold believes her younger self would be proud, not just of her success, but of her growth. “I think she’ll be very proud of me… especially the way I dress now,” she said, laughing as she recalled childhood outfits chosen by her mom. “I feel like she was gonna be super proud… I paved the way for that younger self of mine.”

As for the partnership, Arnold is simply excited for what’s ahead. “I’m just super excited just to be part of JCPenney and what they bring to the table… and just let me be me and express myself.”

And if she could swap closets with anyone? “Teyana Taylor,” she said without hesitation.
