Joe Rogan is once again at the center of online debate after a video showing him shaking hands with Donald Trump began circulating across social media. The moment quickly went viral, with critics and supporters alike weighing in on what they see as a contradiction, especially given Joe Rogan’s increasingly critical tone toward Trump and his base in recent months.

Following the handshake clip, social media users didn’t hold back with their reactions. The video was reshared by a fan account, which expressed, “Joe Rogan sucks up to Trump after calling him out online over Iran War; ICE abuses.”

Some questioned his consistency, with one person writing, “He is a very large part of the blame in how we got here so this makes sense based on that. I don’t believe his recent change.” Another added, “Joe would vote for him a 4th time if he could. Let’s be honest.”

Others took a more critical tone, posting comments like, “Joe is so into fighting and being so strong cause he’s a scared little man.”

Still, some users took a broader view of the situation, with one writing, “The truth always comes out just sit back grab your popcorn and watch the show. Karma always finds a way to find you in the end. If you do wrong, it always comes back to you.”

Rogan made headlines during the 2024 presidential election when he publicly endorsed Trump. However, since then, the longtime podcast host has become more vocal about his concerns surrounding the current political landscape.

On his podcast, Rogan has openly criticized aspects of the administration, including its handling of the Epstein files, immigration enforcement, and controversial public statements.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Rogan took direct aim at the Make America Great Again movement. “That phrase sucks. America is great. Make America greater?” I’m down. But MAGA, and then it becomes a movement of a bunch of dorks?” he said. “A lot of them are these really weird, f-cking uninteresting, unintelligent people,” he said.

Rogan’s criticism hasn’t been limited to slogans or supporters. Throughout the year, he has used his platform to raise concerns about immigration enforcement and violent incidents involving ICE, describing the situation in alarming terms and suggesting fears that the government may be becoming too extreme.

Back in February, Rogan admitted the political climate had begun to take a personal toll, even affecting his sleep.

He also took aim at Trump’s so-called “wall of fame,” which features past presidents, criticizing the move after Trump reportedly mocked his predecessor on a plaque as “Sleepy Joe Biden” and “by far, the worst President in American History.”

Despite his critiques, Rogan has made it clear he doesn’t fully align with either political party.

He previously revealed that he voted for Bernie Sanders in 2020 and has maintained that he doesn’t lean strictly left or right, explaining that, in his view, “both of them suck.”

Joe Rogan has also been candid about where he stands on major policy ideas, even as he questions how effectively they’re implemented. Speaking on “The Joe Rogan Experience” in June 2024, Rogan shared that he’s open to government-backed initiatives like free education, improved infrastructure, and even a universal basic income, but with reservations. “I’ve always, I’ve said, hey, maybe we should look into universal basic income,” Rogan said at the time.

He went on to explain that his support depends heavily on how those programs are executed. “Maybe we should look into universal healthcare, we should fix the roads and we should fix intercities,” he said. “If I thought my tax dollars were being used very appropriately in that way, I’d be 100% in favor of all that stuff.”

While Rogan has shown a willingness to consider broader social programs, he’s made it clear that his biggest concern is whether the government can actually deliver on those promises without waste or inefficiency.
