A former FBI agent has claimed that a new Nancy Guthrie ransom note reveals that her abductors only have plans to “torment” her family due to the timing.

Several such notes have emerged in which the writer not only claimed “she’s dead,” but that they could hand over the abductors “on a silver platter.”

The new note also comes right after Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, returned to work amid her mother’s unsolved disappearance.

Nancy’s disappearance continues to make headlines amid law enforcement’s inability to make headway in the case. The 84-year-old grandmother went missing from her Tucson, Arizona home more than two months ago, and has yet to be found.

No arrest has been made, with the local sheriff, Chris Nanos, being subjected to public backlash for his handling of the case.

Several ransom notes have also surfaced demanding financial incentives for information on Nancy’s whereabouts and that of her kidnappers. Two such notes were recently sent to TMZ, with the writer claiming Nancy “is dead,” but they know where her body is, as well as the identity of the kidnapper.

In another note sent to the news outlet, the same writer claims that they saw Nancy alive with the kidnapper in Sonora, a Mexican state bordering Arizona. The writer shared their willingness to accept half a bitcoin for the information, with the remaining half to be paid when an arrest is made.

Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer has called BS on the ransom notes, saying it is a psychological tactic adopted by the anonymous individual to “torment” Nancy’s family.

Coffindaffer questioned the timing of the purported letter, which coincided with Savannah’s return to work on “Today” earlier this week.

“They sent these right when Savannah Guthrie went back to work. That was by no mistake, that was absolutely meant to further torment her and her family,” she told Newsweek.

“I think it speaks to the fact that there is at least someone out there who is still willing to torture this family by sending these continued communications with no proof of life,” she added.

The FBI Agent Called The Author Of The Ransom Note A ‘Scammer’

Coffindaffer raised questions over the authenticity of the notes, wondering why the writer would be asking for just 1 bitcoin valued at around $70,000, when Savannah’s reward for such information stands at $1 million.

“The reason this makes sense to me is that they don’t have that knowledge, because they’re not seeking the $1.2 million,” the former agent said. “Instead, they’re trying to subvert it with this … quickly paid, no hoops to jump through, just get the money.”

“But I think that these people are scammers,” Coffindaffer added about the author of the ransom notes.

The Ransom Note’s Author Claims They Have Nothing To Do With The ‘Horrific Crime’

The anonymous sender of the ransom notes claimed in previous messages that they asked to be paid in Bitcoin to avoid getting discovered.

However, the person stressed that they had nothing to do with the “horrific crime” as they had been out of the country for more than five years.

The ransom note author also appeared to lash out at the fact that they’ve been “disregarded as a scam” by law enforcement, highlighting their readiness to give up the kidnappers “on a silver platter.”

“It’s unbelievable that millions have been wasted and yet here I am willing to deliver them on a silver platter since the 11th of February for a bitcoin, but I am disregarded as a scam … they are free, and the case is frozen, but the egos remain hot when it comes to me,” the first letter reportedly stated.

The writer added, “Arrogance at its finest.”

Meanwhile, theories relating to the kidnapping case continue to mount as Nancy’s famous daughter, Savannah, slowly moves on with life.

An Indiana detective, Brian Martin, told NewsNation‘s Brian Entin that the missing grandmother probably suffered a health mishap during her kidnapping, which led to the kidnappers dumping her body.

It was widely reported when the kidnapping initially happened that Nancy had a pacemaker and needed medical attention and medication daily.

“What really bothers me is if they underestimated Miss Guthrie’s health and thought, ‘Well, we’ll take her, this will be easy. We’ll hold on to her at an unknown location for a day or two. We’ll get some money out of this, and we’ll leave her in a Walmart parking lot,'” Martin said.

“And what they had to do is … it sounds horrible…. They had to dispose of Miss Guthrie because she was no longer of value to them in that monetary gain that they’re hoping to get,” he added, explaining that the kidnappers seemingly ran out of options when things went “sideways.”

“It just scares me to think that somebody maybe took Miss Guthrie, and she had some sort of medical event when it was happening, because obviously it’d be an incredibly stressful situation and very taxing on somebody,” Martin added.
