Megyn Kelly is opening up about the habits that have helped her feel stronger and more energized in her 50s.

After recently discussing how hormone replacement therapy helped her through menopause, the broadcaster is now sharing more details about the lifestyle choices behind her transformation.

From a structured workout routine to a steady diet and a shift in mindset, Kelly says her progress is the result of consistency rather than extremes, even as she balances a demanding career and raising three children.

Megyn Kelly says her approach to fitness is not about intensity but about staying consistent with what she can manage.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 55-year-old explained, “I have previously stated that I work out with a trainer two times a week for 45 minutes only, which makes me do it.”

Those sessions help keep her accountable, but she doesn’t stop there. Kelly added that she also works out alone one to two times each week, building a routine that fits her schedule.

Instead of focusing on high-impact workouts, she keeps things relatively simple.

The media personality prefers walking or spending time on the elliptical rather than doing heavy cardio sessions.

Outside the gym, Kelly incorporates other wellness habits into her routine. “I sauna at least four times a week and love it,” she noted, pointing to the benefits of relaxation and recovery.

Megyn Kelly has also developed a steady approach to food that supports her overall health.

She follows a Mediterranean-style diet, centered on whole foods and simple meals.

“Pretty much every day I have two to three eggs with a piece of sourdough toast and an avocado or a piece of fruit,” she told the outlet.

For lunch and dinner, Kelly sticks to a similar structure, choosing lean protein paired with vegetables.

When she needs something in between meals, she reaches for nuts, making sure they don’t contain added seed oils.

While her diet is disciplined, Kelly doesn’t cut out treats completely. “I do sometimes have some Häagen-Dazs at night – just a little,” the journalist admitted, adding, “I love [the flavor] caramel cone. A little goes a long way.”

This balance allows her to stay consistent without feeling overly restricted, which she suggests is key to maintaining her routine long term.

Kelly hasn’t always had a strong connection to fitness. In fact, she previously admitted that working out was something she often avoided.

During her time on the “Today” show, she joked openly about it. “It’s not completely true that I hate working out,” she said in 2018 per PEOPLE, adding, “But I’m tired. I have three kids and a full-time job, and I don’t want to [do it] anymore.”

She even told viewers at one point, “You guys know that I don’t exercise, right?”

Beyond fitness, Kelly has been candid about her struggles with body image. She revealed that weight issues affected many members of her family and that she faced harsh comments growing up.

“My entire family has been overweight or obese,” she said, explaining that those experiences shaped how she viewed her own body.

As a teenager, she resorted to extreme measures, significantly restricting her food intake. Reflecting on that period, Kelly admitted, “I was thin and so unhappy.”

Even now, she says body image remains something she continues to navigate, like many women.

Kelly Explains How Her Mindset Around Fitness Changed Over Time

Megyn Kelly says her current mindset about fitness didn’t happen overnight; it developed gradually.

A turning point came when she started trying a digital workout program called “The Class.”

“I’ve been doing this thing called The Class, which I actually really like,” she said per the Daily Mail, while speaking to trainer Jillian Michaels in May 2023.

She quickly began to notice physical changes. “It is transforming my body. I’m starting to look good. I’m starting to see some muscle definition,” Kelly said at the time.

By 2025, she had simplified her routine even further. Speaking at a Turning Point USA event, she said she focuses on lifting light weights during her training sessions.

Kelly also noted that walking and light activity were enough for her lifestyle, especially given her limited time.

Megyn Kelly Details Her Long Evolution With Food, Diets, And Health

Megyn Kelly’s relationship with food has changed significantly over the years.

Earlier in her career, she followed structured plans like the F-Factor diet, which focuses on fiber-rich foods.

According to the journalist, it was a diet that began after the birth of her first child, and it helped her lose baby weight quickly. At other times, Kelly avoided certain foods altogether, such as starches.

Over time, however, her perspective shifted. Instead of strict rules, she now focuses on balance and consistency.

She has also spoken about how difficult it was to maintain both her medical and personal expectations around food and fitness, especially while raising children and working full-time.

Today, her routine reflects a more realistic approach, one that includes healthy meals, occasional indulgences, and habits she can maintain long term.
