More financial issues are unraveling about Caitlyn Jenner‘s late, longtime pal.
It has come to light that Sophia Hutchins‘ family had a bone to pick with her about her spending habits from her early years. This comes after the reality TV star filed claims against her late friend’s estate to clear her debt, which amounts to thousands of dollars.
Caitlyn Jenner’s late pal passed away in a tragic incident in July last year. During her lifetime, the pair had bonded over their lives as transwomen and business moguls, amid sparking rumors that they were more than friends.
Caitlyn Jenner’s Late Pal’s Bills Were Reportedly Not Hers To Pay In Early Days

Jenner’s claims that her deceased friend owed her close to half a million dollars shocked many, but not including members of Hutchins’ inner circle. Those who knew her well have shared that the former Kardashian’s manager drove a wedge between her and her family members over money matters years ago.
Going down memory lane, it has been revealed that Hutchins had beef with some of her relatives over her spending habits from her days in college, before her dealings with Jenner came into the picture. Insiders told TMZ that the late businesswoman was raised by her paternal grandmother, Regina, who generously covered the fees for Hutchins’ private schools.
Regina also reportedly continued sending her granddaughter money for college expenses while she was enrolled at Pepperdine University in Malibu. In addition to these expenses, Grandma Regina covered the media personality’s credit card bills, which often totaled in lump sums. Notwithstanding the total costs, Regina bore the additional expenses for travel, airfare, and attending debate trips.
Family Members Said Enough Is Enough After Sophia Hutchins’ Grandmother’s Death

According to sources close to the situation, after her grandma died, other family members decided they could not continue shouldering the burden of Hutchins’ expenses. They cut off the credit card that Grandma Regina was paying for, because they felt she was using and abusing it. This left the late socialite pissed, and as a result, she distanced herself from her family, but was already living with Jenner at the time.
Another thing that set Hutchins on edge was being left with no inheritance from her grandma. Reportedly, she was not happy when it was revealed that Regina had only left her with a prized Christmas ornament collection, as she had high expectations that she would inherit some of her grandmother’s estate.
People close to her disclosed that they felt she took advantage of her grandma’s generosity and felt entitled. Because the whole family did not see eye to eye on the financial situation, Hutchins burnt bridges with her relatives. However, she claimed that their relationship went south because her family was not supportive of her gender transition.
How Caitlyn Jenner Unveiled Hutchins Debts

Two months after her tragic car accident, the TV star filed a creditors’ claim against Hutchins estate, arguing that she owed almost half a million dollars, including debit and credit card bills.
The total unpaid expenses resulted in a total debt of $439,095.88. Jenner also released documents showing that her late manager had requested cash advances between February and June 2025, totaling $7,150. As shared by The Blast, Hutchins had used her pal’s cards to make multiple purchases totaling over 6 figures and spent thousands of dollars online shopping on antique furniture sites.
There were also shared legal bills between the pair, which the late media personality left unpaid. Jenner claimed in the filed documents that Hutchins had spent $19,500 at Tomlin Antiques and $16,163.65 at Restoration Hardware. In addition to these, she allegedly spent an extra $6,905.04 on eBay and $379.32 on Shopify, along with other expenses.
Sophia Hutchins’ Death Hit Jenner Too Close To Home

Shortly after the tragic accident that claimed the late socialite’s life on July 2, 2025, made headlines, Jenner was spotted out in Malibu running errands wearing a somber appearance. At that time, she noted that she was going through a hard time dealing with the reality of the events, but was not ready to talk about it.
Over a month later, Jenner opened up in an interview, telling outlets that it had been “so difficult” dealing with her grief. She likened the pain to the tragic Minneapolis church shooting that resulted in the death of two pre-teens. The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” alum stated that she could put herself in the shoes of the victims’ families as she was also grieving the death of a loved one.
The Blast reported that the reality TV star, clad in all-black attire, was moved to tears as she spoke, expressing her feelings. She noted that to heal from the pain of the loss, it would take her, as well as the grieving parents, a lot of time.
Caitlyn Jenner’s Late Pal Looked Up To Her

Jenner and Hutchins met for the first time in 2015, after the reality TV star came out as transgender. The late socialite disclosed that their mutual hairstylist introduced them, and they quickly became close friends. Down the line, Hutchin moved into the former athlete’s home to work as her manager.
Their relationship raised eyebrows with many assuming that they were more than friends or colleagues. However, in 2018, Hutchins shut down the swirling whispers about the dynamics of their relationship. She claimed that Jenner was a parental figure to her, stressing that their numerous public outings were due to their business partnership.
The former athlete has stated that she is not looking to enter a relationship, as her focus remains on her children, animals, family, and business. The Blast previously reported that Jenner declared, “I’ll never have a relationship in the future. I just don’t see that in my life. I am not looking for that” in an interview.
Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, has been married three times. She was married to popular TV star Kris Jenner for 22 years before transitioning. Her transition journey, which sparked family chaos, was majorly documented on the hit family TV show, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.”
